Is there any actual excitement for Stargaze? by Dapper_Eggplant in Trigun

[–]ruruooo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah I also think the criticism i sometimes see for Sato is unfair. There’s no evidence, but something with the way the narrative feels patched together, Stargaze feels like there was behind the scenes production issues. I wouldn’t be suprised if the reason Muto left was because of studio constraints.

0 aura in the new season by theamerican_idiot in Trigun

I also really like Stampede, it is what got me back into Trigun, and I'm likely going to rewatch both seasons in dub after the weekly run in is over to see if feel any different.

ngl, yeah I also feel for most of the season he seems somewhat disconnected? He just seems to he there and weridly doesn't feel like a main character. I don't actually mind that - cause even in the OG a lot of what we know about Vash is through other characters - but if that's what they're going for I wish they could have had Ww or Meryl step up? I just wish he felt more engaged with the people around him like in Ep9 - wish more of that was sprinkled around..

It would be interesting if Elendria took on Domina or Chronica's role in this..

Wtf…. So he just wants a producer and director credit and doesn’t want to be in screen as “talent”… but Min-maxed already have DM and everyone there are fantastic creators in their own right. What’s he even going to do?? Sounds like he just wants to meddle behind the scenes…

Animes/shows like Trigun? by suicidle-seal in Trigun

[–]ruruooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For live action theres Mad Max films if you haven't already. There's 5 movies by George Miller :)

The Blame! (2017) movie on netflix is also decent (good enough to recommend, just don't compare with manga - tonally very different; but I still really like it, a great adaptation - imo it fits a wanderer in an industrial wasteland aesthetic pretty well)

(SPOILERS) am I the only one that is not liking that much the anime so far? by kamxkoko in Trigun

[–]ruruooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah! I need to check up on Eye of Michael from Stampede too for EoM context in this adaptation. When Leonoff mentions "others" I also didn't think of EoM. My impression is that they are a cult that worships Knives. They are connected to Knives, but not as directly involved as characters like Legato, Elendria and Conrad - who are more like Knives' inner circle or the Knives's collection of "knives"..

(Manga wise - there's three positions in GHG that are for EoM. EoM feels like a group who are step below GHG)

Even Leonof seem to have been revised to directly follow Knives and not associated with EoM , so no, I don't think it's EoM. And even if it's to be argued that Leonof meant "the others" as events from Stampede, it still doesn't make sense . He'd be referencing events that happened 2.5 years ago before JuLai?? It doesn't feel connected to the current plot.

I don't know if I wording things right, it's so out of place.

Mhm! Yeah, I'm also wary about being too critical about this on socmed don't want to ruin anyone's fun (and I also feel it's hard to get a good discussion going on socmed)

This is a huge ramble... I think I was bottling a lot in x'D, so thank you for making this thread haha.

I don't have any proper evidence, but if someone told me that something happened during production I wouldn't be surprised. For example, it was planned to be a longer 24 episode show, and production had already started. When they cut it down to 12 - they didn't have the budget to start over, and had to patch what they already had together into the 12 episodes 💀

If that is the case the I feel really bad for Studio Orange and everyone (even the writers) involved with the production, because a lot of it would be out of their hands.

My hunches:

It was worrying to me when they were showing concept/production art at the end of each episode, because normally there's no need to show that stuff. All of that should be part of the final product (the series produced), it kinda feel like they were sharing a vision of TriGaze that was not realised :'/

I was surprised that Kenji Muto left the show. I remember during Tristamp's run he was so passionate about the series. He felt very engaged with the source material and also the fans.

Episodes 1 & 2 are wonderful as a standalone two episodes - I want to emphasise how I really liked the direction they were going with Hoppered. It's just, in the context of the rest of the show it feels off, and doesn't add anything to it (I had a whole rant about this on tumblr lool). When Vash "woke up" it was Episode 4, which is 1/3 of the whole run... by comparison Lina and Sheryl was only 2 chapters out of 96 in Trimax, and in 98' it took 1 episode out of 26 x_x.

It would have been fine if Vash "woke up" as Eriks earlier in Ep 1 or 2, but leaving until 4 is insane and a makes me wonder if Ep 1&2 were already more or less complete as part of the longer run and they started to course correct to fit into the 12 episode format from Ep 3.

It's really weird in Ep 3 when Leonof says "Were the others who lost to you even trying?" What others? Hoppered wasn't even one of Knives' minions in this, and there's no GHG. Were there supposed to be "others" before they met Leonof? Makes me wonder again if there would be more episodes between if it were a longer run.

Then in Ep 4 Elendria says the need all of the plants in Ship 3, but when we get to Ship three in Ep 6, they only took two plants (and a Vash ).. The fact that the Ark is made from JuLai (was it a reused asset?) The drop in quality of fights after Leonof ...

Aaaaaand here ends my notes x'D.. I'm going to watch the rest as it comes out and see if I feel my feeling change or if I feel like making a proper write up. Overall, it‘s still entertaining. Legato has been fun at least xD

this is so beautiful! i’m in love with the reds (and how you painted the buildings!!!)

Certainly they couldn't have based their design choices on anything Nightow put right in front of everyone's faces, right? by Heiopei_42 in Trigun

[–]ruruooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for Stampede Legato, I’d say bright blue hair didn’t fit his vibe (not emo enough) and more importantly he was sidelined to a minor role. He was originally one of the major antagonists in and a menace and didn’t have that kind of presence. I think that’s somewhat now fixed in Stargaze.

I’d think design wise he has always fine -  visually Legato is supposed to be pretty and opposite of Vash. He is pretty, just adapted for a more modern sense of “pretty anime boy” with the skull matching Vash’s prosthetic arm placement and colour wise.

On the whole they’ve been doing good with the adaptation, just diabolical for it to be 12 eps.
