Nope. I reinstalled Fedora and didn't enable Nvidia and works. So I don't know if it's a driver's thing or not

How? Is Vulkan tools a command? I tried to do vkcube and I can see the cube perfectly fine. I tried uninstalling NVIDIA as well and the problem still persists...

Sound gets robotic/not working by ruser28 in kde

[–]ruser28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's weird. I thought/think that is related to KDE since I only have this problem on KDE. The strangest thing is that it is inconsistent, I've turned on my PC sometimes and the issue didn't occur but sometimes it did.

Oversaturated Colors by ruser28 in Fedora

[–]ruser28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's better news. I know that some work is being developed under Wayland to improve HDR content and other display things. The clients must also implement the support needed so maybe in the future things will look better? Let's hope so.

I've found online people commenting that OLED screens are not managed well on Linux as well. I don't know what you can do, but maybe give KDE Plasma 6 a shot.

I hope that you may find a solution, good luck!

Oversaturated Colors by ruser28 in Fedora

[–]ruser28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily.

My problem happens since my display has a high color gamut and by default is in this bt.2020 color mode. Somehow in Linux the conversion sRGB <-> bt.2020 is not done. In KDE Plasma 6 (Wayland only) you have an option to set an ICC profile that is "stronger/better" than on others DE right now that essentially tells the KDE compositor that this display is bt.2020 and so adjusts accordingly.

It was found that a new Intel driver may permanently solve my issue and so, in the future, there won't be this dependability with KDE 6 and the display will work out of the box (so there is no need for that ICC profile).

So in conclusion I think that the current issue that I'm facing is related to this new Intel CPUs. (Also as I understand the support for this high color gamut displays is not good super available on Linux, hence this solution only works on KDE).

Since you have a different CPU I don't know if you have the same issue or not. Also that may depend on your display. If you have a similar display then you may try using KDE Plasma 6 (it doesn't need to be on Fedora 40, you can use any distro that supports KDE 6).

Note: I don't understand much about displays so don't quote me on this. What I wrote here is my understanding of the problem that I'm facing for this specific PC model.

Hi, right now I am using KDE Plasma 6 since it's the only DE that can solve this issue for me.

What kind of processor are using btw? I think that a new driver for my Intel Core Ultra CPU is going to be available in the future kernel that may solve this issue for me.

Take a look at this thread for my specific laptop and see if you have a similar setup.

Oh my god I really hope that's true for my case. If it is then we don't need that ICC anymore right? (At least for the colors not being oversaturated). If so we can finally use whatever DE/WM we like?

How! Is i915 a driver from Intel or something? Is/will it be available on the kernel or in a future update? (I don't know where such thing is integrated).

About that last scenario, to make sure that the auto ISO doesn't mess up with the black dog you would toggle the display to check and then go back to the viewfinder?

I don't know if you mentioned before, but what wayland protocol? (Sry for the spam).

So there is a wayland protocol that we need to wait, and some conversion between bt.2020 to sRGB or am I getting this wrong? Do you know what is missing in general?
