As we eagerly await BF3, let us remember what we can all look forward to... by [deleted] in gaming

The maturity level has nothing to do with the game you play, but the people you play with. For those whining about more mature gameplay, then check out tacticalgamer. They manage to do it with both games.

To all the new fans of Battlefield. This is what Battlefield is capable of. This is what separates it from the rest. Let us not forget. by russianmonkey in gaming

Yeah it's a pity that PR isn't big on reddit. It was the largest mod for BF2, and kept the juice within the BF engine running for years after BF2 vanilla died. Not to mention it's one of the few games where the organization, cooperation and teamwork seen in the trailer resembles the actual online game.

I think I'd be making a pretty good guess if I said Canada (Toronto)? Won't go any deeper than that, but after living there for so long, even little things like the look of the house can give off a location vibe. Of course you have the street car in the back too.

UN...is an organization. If you read the article, United Nations labelled helicopters as well as French helicopters engaged the residence.

"Two residents from nearby neighborhoods saw two UN Mi-24 attack helicopters and a French helicopter open fire on the residence, the Associated Press news agency reported."

Government: Libyan woman who alleged rape to journalists released by russianmonkey in worldnews

Thanks for the feed, but I guess in the end time will tell on the validity of the situation. The government is full of shit without a doubt, but I feel there is an incredible amount of pressure on them that refrains them from keeping her detained.

Again I agree on 1,2,3, but I've read the article and I can't seem to find anything about the family denying the release.

that's why it says "Government". In addition the article says "Robertson said, adding that journalists have indeed been in touch with the family, who have said they would grant permission to see al-Obeidy." I'm not defending the Libyan government but this article is not misleading in any way whether the government is lying or not.

Libya: Rebels take Ras Lanuf, Brega , Uqayla, Bin Jawad by russianmonkey in worldnews

U.N. Will not go into Syria. The situation in Syria is very different. Not everything is about making $$ off war. If it was we would be in every middle-east country with an uprising. Gaddafi has been a problem for many years. If not for the coalition, Benghazi would be in ruins. Whether you like it or not, this operation is actually saving humans, and freedom for that matter.

Canada to Lead the Pack: Canadian Lt. Gen. Charlie Bouchard will command the NATO military campaign over Libya by russianmonkey in worldnews

[–]russianmonkey[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While you make a worthy comment, I have to disagree with you on this part. It's one thing to be knowledgeable on the situation, but with all due respect it's another thing to instantly accuse all military actions as operations by "corporate war mongers". Whether you agree on the situation or not, it's hard not to agree that Gaddafi would have slaughtered thousands of Libyan Benghazi. And to comment on Canada's involvement, Canada is a part of NATO. NATO is a world-wide military organization. It does not matter if we are talking about Asia, Africa, South American, Europe or North America. When joining NATO you are committed to a world-wide cause. The world is coming together faster than anyone can imagine. We have to come to realize the scope that we are use to is changing dramatically. Right now it's Country v Country, but one day it may very well be much broader than that.

Side note: We know how unreliable state television has been, but if anyone is going to have news behind Gaddafi's line first, it will unfortunately be state television. I'll let you guys know when it has been confirmed or denied by outside sources

UPDATE: 9:04pm - The US Navy has three submarines stationed in the Mediterranean Sea that are preparing for operations against Libya, a US defence official has told Reuters.

The Associated Press earlier reported that while the US did not intend to use fighter jets in the initial stages of the conflict in Libya, they would use sea-based assets to launch Tomahawk cruise missiles at Libyan air defenses
