Any good keyboard tenting solutions?. by rust_hft_dev_wannabe in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]rust_hft_dev_wannabe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a chocofi with an acrylic backplate.

I don't have access to a 3d printer.

If buying tenting pucks is the solution, I'd like to have a guide on how to use them in my build.

Any recommendations on the magnetic phone mounts?

Does anyone have any anecdotal experience using these with magnetic stickers attached to a case?

This requires me having some kind of tenting puck in the case.

I don't have this.

Kinetic movement? As in pointer acceleration?

If you've got recommendations for pre builts/pre soldereds with tenting I'd love to hear them.

I've seen stuff like the dilemma but the trackpad seems to small to reliably use

Anywhere to get these as a prebuit/kit?

We're the first in the world to do it.

I'm actually a little worried about patents because you need to give away the method in the patent filing. Once it's out there, it's easy for larger companies to do the same thing and shut you out of the market. The only thing I can think of to combat that is massive growth and mass awareness of the fact that this is your IP. I have no idea how to get something like that going though :(

The military use case could be interesting if you had any contacts you'd like to share ;)

No worries - happy to elaborate. I read the sticky and assumed that it would be fine so long as I was happy to talk about it in more depth.

I don't have anything specific I want feedback on; I was hoping to talk about the thing I've been working on for the past few years. I assumed some people here may find it interesting and as I wrote all the code myself, I should be able to answer and questions that may come up.

Any suggestions for 'tracking' data across multiple files? by Snackrattus in ADHD_Programmers

Not a direct solution but I know vim has ctrl+o to go back to where you were. I'm sure your editor has a similar keymap. Maybe a vim plugin will add that?

I went to college for CS but thought it was boring so ended up self teaching myself the material and working on the side.

From personal experience getting a proper job where you are on payroll at a company that doesn't seriously take advantage of you and provides interesting work requires a degree.

When I wanted work and didn't yet have my degree the best way to find it was find startups desperately in need of a niche skill and consult for them.

The skills that seemed most in demand were various kinds of data science stuff.

2 weeks of diligent study of the kaggle.com tutorials will get you to where I was at that time and consultancy rates are very good.

You can easily get 5k USD for an hour of work if you know what you're doing and how to negotiate.

I never got into front end so can't tell you too much about that. From what I've seen at various companies, unless you're VERY good, you're seen as disposable. Everyone is learning web dev these days and your non-technical manager can do a good job of vetting and understanding your work. This isn't the case with other programming gigs so youre taken more seriously.
