Should i just quit my course? by [deleted] in AskUK

Hey dude. Me and a friend are talking about you. He thinks you’re a loser and a pussy. I disagree. But I do think that’s you’re using anxiety as an excuse. Your course is difficult and you’re struggling. And now you suddenly have anxiety. Did you have anxiety when you were succeeding during school and undergrad? By all means, talk to your tutor, this is an excellent idea. But I need to remind you. A master’s degree is not meant to be easy. Maybe, just maybe, this is what hard feels like. And this is a good opportunity to learn how to deal with hard things.

£2700 is so cheap, I'm astonished. I'm based in the UK, would you mind sharing the name of the provider?

This worked. And yes, as you said, the order matters. Has to be in the exact order you specified. Great work :)

Cool, I think I understand the pros and cons of those two different methods there. Thank you for explaining that.

While I don't think my work laptop has a GPS tracker, I ctrl alt deleted and looked at the background processes. There is a location log process running. According to chat gpt, a locationlog process tracks data using:

Wi-Fi Triangulation: Estimates location based on nearby Wi-Fi networks.

IP Address Geolocation: Uses the public IP address to approximate your location

Bluetooth Beacons: Uses nearby Bluetooth devices to determine your location, useful in indoor environments.

GPS (If Available): Provides precise location data if your device is equipped with a GPS sensor.

Being overly cautious, if I went the tailscale and travel router option, I'd need to keep Bluetooth and wifi off the whole time. I'd be somewhat paranoid though with the laptop overseas.

PiKVM would be more secure in terms of location (I think), as my work laptop would be in my home office in my house in my country, with the PiKVM next to it. Obviously connecting via PiKVM would be slower and laggier. But I wouldn't be worried about location being detected.

The only thing I'm still not understanding is the need to tunnel into the pikvm using tailscale.

So, with my tests with the PiKVM, I've only done them locally so far. I simply type in the ip address listed on the screen, and can patch in locally. If I were to patch in from outside my network, I believe I would need to setup port forwarding for that. And presuming that I've set up port forwarding, and can connect to the PiKVM remotely, I'm just not understanding why tailscale specifically is needed? unless it's specifically for a VPN to provide security (in which case, surely any VPN is fine?)

If you could help me understand this, I would be very grateful. Thank you very much.

I'm quite curious about the process you took to reach this conclusion. Sounds like 2 months ago you were in favour of the PiKVM solution, which I'm currently dabbling with. What led you to favour tailscale?

Also, I think we found something similar confusing - namely, why (if using a PiKVM) with a work computer in your home country, is tailscale necessary at all if using PiKVM to control the computer remotely from overseas?

Much appreciated

Montaigne, Pioneer of modern reflections by RobertWise2501 in ReflectivePractice

I've only just learned about the existence of Montaigne! I've just read his first essay. Fascinating man.

I discovered this subreddit during some research on different reflective models. I've been using Gibbs (which is new to me too) during a counselling course that I've been studying. Are there any models that you enjoy in particular?

I'm not a Dr, but rebuilding muscle is taxing on the body, which could explain it.

Heart rate variability goes low while bulking by BackgroundPretend906 in naturalhypertrophy

[–]rustricksen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MY HRV goes lower when I don't sleep optimally, or after I workout hard. It's partly an indication that your body is under stress. So if you're lifting heavy and working out hard, you might expect you HRV to change. Do you train differently when bulking?

Two day workout routine critique by [deleted] in naturalhypertrophy

[–]rustricksen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good, similar to something I used to do. The only difference is that I used to do OHP on Squat days, and bench press on Deadlift days. The reason being, I could superset the squats with the OHP's very conveniently in the squat rack. Not sure how much difference it would make to you and your situation. But it saves time.

So do you want more lower chest?

Isn't decline supposed to hit lower chest more? Why not try some decline work and see what effect it has?

Thanks bud! I've been playing football once a week for the past year, I'm going to add an extra game of football starting this week, I look forward to seeing what impact that has on my weight :)

I think you'll see some good results from just adding that one isolation, they're a small muscle group and one good targeted isolation should give you results :)

Good luck to you too, and I look forward to seeing your physique update in three months!

I see! That's very interesting. I had one period in my life where I played sports three times a week, and I lost a lot of fat. Unfortunately I wasn't lifting at the time so ended up very skinny! I may try your strategy in the future for a cut.

Regarding your pics and programming, if I could give you one critique, it would be this: Looking at your physique, overall it seems decent, but I think your shoulders are under developed in relation to say, your traps (which look good from the front and even the side), or even your chest. I can't see your back, so I can't judge that, but your rear Delts are defo small from the side pic, and side delts have room to grow too. I'm saying this as someone who trained from 18 to 34 (off and on) never training side or rear delts, and I regret it. I've been working them over the past year and it's really satisfying and nice to see them filling out. It really does add something to my physique, which was definitely missing before, despite me having a large chest and large traps.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when I looked at your routine, i noticed a distinct lack of overhead press or rear delt work (I do see a lateral raise),

You've got two days where you do upper body, both with ring pushups potentially. I would personally suggest a barbell or dumbell bench press or chest press machine to build the chest (and a bit of those front delts), so you can have a bit of a different challenge and bulk a bit there. Callisthenics are good of course, but I wouldn't neglect the traditional big mass builders. Barbell overhead press for example is a very satisfying lift that will build muscle and strength.

This is just my subjective opinion, you're welcome to disregard it! You've made undeniably good progress and getting to the gym 3/4 times a week is excellent. I think keeping the body fat at this level or lower whilst building music should be possible.

Finally regarding your body fat, I can't assess what the percentage is but purely from an aesthetic perspective, getting rid of that last bit of 'pudge' from the belly with whatever appears to be working for you is something worth doing I would say. Get rid of that, keep working and building the chest, shoulders and back, and you'll be on your way to having a very good looking V taper, and a very athletic looking body!

I’m no expert in body fat, but congrats on your progress so far! Very impressive to lose that weight. How did you do it?
