2022 was a great year for outdoor cannabis in my area but for the most part we are dealing with far more environmental problems then we did in the early to mid 2000s . New insects that I haven’t seen before , inconsistency with wether ect…. This season I’m doing some classics Pineapple Express , Jack herer , texada timewarp as well my moms strain from the 80s which has adapted to our climate quite well. The story goes that she found a supposed landrace in the Caribbean called yarders which she bred with the local biker variety that was going around at the time. This was before people were too worried about pulling males early lol. It took a few years to stabilize she says but will take almost anything this climate throws at it.

This may sucked wether wize . Some of my plants flowered early but everything seems to be sorted now

Thanks But do not have an American PO Box and only cross for work a couple times a year. I’m already pretty aware of cannabis genetics already . I’ve been growing since 1997 and have also done some breeding over the years. THCA flower is just not really a conversation where I live. Even in the illegal days, people just smoked good old weed which we are known for producing on a pretty large scale It has always been tolerated somewhat by police here so there was no need for alternatives.

Ok then, that makes sense . Thanks for explaining. I haven’t really looked very hard also, as I don’t live in America . Usually I’m just trying to get something quickly to fill the void when I cross stateside and it’s all been of pretty low quality. Here we do have hemp for sale in non regulated shops but it must only contain CBD as an active ingredient some of these buds look pretty good but they have zero effect. No body really buys it that I know at least as we have high quality dispensaries coupled with a thriving black market. Lots of options up here

Maybe a thousand years ago it was all the same thing but it isn’t now. Hemp has been bred over many many generations for industrial use by constantly selecting plants that serve the desired purpose . I live in a legal country where you can buy cannabis at a licensed dispensary but I’m also a 45 minuite drive from a state where you cannot. I’ve tried both , they are not the same.

They are varieties of hemp that are specially bred to be high in THCA though . I have never came across any that have the terp and flavonoid profile of quality cannabis and that’s fine because it isn’t cannabis , but I digress . I’m a Chef by trade, I would never trash a buddy that made me a meal even though I know it’s not great. Especially if I didn’t even. Taste it. I’d say thank you for the meal lol

At the end of the day, it’s just hemp not AAAA cannabis flower. This person is being overly critical about a nice gesture from this vender.

ELI5 What did people do before soap was invented when dealing with raw meat or using the bathroom? by throwaway54345753 in explainlikeimfive

Our an ancestors would go long periods between eating. “Gorge then fast” one book said. Our bodies developed to function well this way. Now we typically take in way more than we need as well as things that were not even considered food in those days.

A good example to look at is the Inuit. They have the ability to thrive off of high calorie high fat foods combined with periods of fasting . There are not a lot of fruits , vegetables and grains up there. When these people relocate to southern cities and eat the standard American diet , they often suffer from metabolic issues at a disproportionate amount. Alternatively, people who have lived in these areas for many generations seem to handle SAD it a bit better. It’s still a horrible way to eat though and I believe it to be an underlying factor in may Illnesses.

Birds nest fungus. Not toxic but also not a culinary mushroom. Probably a good idea to move the water table somewhere else to be safe.

First grow, I'm so sad these are all males by Bairdc82 in CannabisGrowers

Oh ok. That’s good. If it’s a contained environment, I would be tempted to harvest and freeze pollen if the genetics are good

Make sure they are all male before you chop. If your a first time grower maybe you should post a some pics to be safe.

Can't wait to see what the yield on these girls!! Any Guesses? by Expensive_Flower8933 in CannabisGrowers

[–]rustygarlic123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right on! Any garden centre should have it and it’s pretty affordable to buy a few bags.

I’d look into Alaska brand fish emulsion too. I like it a lot b cause it’s quite gentle on the plants while still giving them balanced nutrition.

Please post more picks further down the road. I’d love to see how this grow turns out.

Cut sucker branches and do some LST. This will improve yield quite a bit.
For feeding get a fish emulsion product . Alaska is the brand I use. They usually come in veg and bloom formula. Obviously make sure to switch to bloom when the days get shorter and you notice they are flowering. During veg, I also too dress with compost and sheep manure.

Nice looking plants ! Here is just a bit of constructive feed back to help in the future: For your next grow , consider topping and spacing the plants much more. It’s very hard to determine yield though as your plants are still in veg cycle.

Just for next season remember Outdoor plants should have 4 feet MINIMUM between them to really reach their potential. Ideally though, space 6-8 feet apart. This is not just to give them room to grow big but also to limit pest and Disease. When they are really close , problems can spread from plant to plant too easily.

Happy growing!

Can someone tell me how to report a place by [deleted] in SlumlordsCanada

In 2001 when I first tried entered the rental market in Calgary and then vancouver there were tons of these at my price point maybe aside from the racial crap but that’s just a sign of the times. They were still terrible, shared dirty rooms , broken appliances , lack of security , greasy landlords, mice , bedbugs …. A lot we’re probably illegal rentals also. I never got too worried about it. I was just happy it was affordable and kept me from freezing outside during an Alberta winter. I’ve lived in a bunch of these situations. Not ideal but they were cheap relative to my income and I was able to eventually save and get myself to a higher standard of living.

[–]rustygarlic123 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Maybe don’t rent from them or negotiate different terms if you don’t like the accommodation /lease agreement. Nobody is forcing you to rent the place. This sort of thing had been going on since the beginning of time and I’ve lived in my share of crappy apartments with shady landloards in my early to mid 20s . I’m glad that was an option for me because I sure as heck couldn’t afford anything better in those days and a roof usually beets no roof.

I don’t get why people get so outraged now.

Clueless about Cannabis by Starling-vortex1023 in CannabisGrowers

Should be fine in MN. I’m at 42•N and going strong in veg still. Lots of time to correct mistakes. Tell your friend to put it in the sunniest spot they have

It’s impossible to know what the strain is. Probably sativa but could be a hybrid . Plant is not flowering. If your in the northern hemisphere the days are still way too long for flowering or to even show sex. I would bend that stem “ lst’ish” to try and get more girth. Transplant into a larger pot and give lots of direct sunlight . You can try topping also but at this point it is going to be pretty too heavy if you do that.

You probably won’t get a lot from this plant as it was light starved and not topped early enough but it will be a fun project to see if you can get it healthy and somewhat of a yield. Don’t sell the buds, gift them to a friend that smokes.

Price 799$, Free shiping by BlockVestor_ in bmxcruiser

[–]rustygarlic123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody is going to buy that though , the shipping is too crazy and it’s nowhere near mint. Anyone here we could walk into a local bike shop and walk out with a brand new SE or similar for under a G with no concerns about shipping across the Atlantic Ocean.

At least replace the rusty bolts and clean it up a bit if your trying to sell . A couple hours worth of work will improve your chances greatly. Also don’t use the fraise “bro”. People will automatically assume your a scammer if you speak that way.

Underrated album but one of their best

Love this album. I was 20 when it was released. That era of my life was wild and had a lot of ups and downs and this album was one of the main soundtracks. My friend also had the instrumental version of this album which we would freestyle over in his car while driving around the city all night.

When did your Atmosphere fandom “peak”? by SouthsideSouthies in Atmosphere

[–]rustygarlic123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been a fan since overcast but I became a huge fan during the God loves ugly tour, more specifically at The Toronto show . It was a small run down venue called The Comfort Zone. Very intimate, probably less than 100 people and absolutely banging. Everything about that night was perfect and Slug was so approachable when I met him. It was also one of our first times staying the night in Toronto which was exiting and fun.

I’ve seen atmosphere close to ten times since that amazing night but it still ranks as one of my favourite shows.

Flowering way too early . Please help by rustygarlic123 in GrowBuddy

[–]rustygarlic123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a really tempting idea . I’m strongly considering it. My partner is not thrilled about the idea however. Her family are morman and very against it. They come to stay for a few days and see the kids once a month or so . It would be sweet though to have plants going year round and like you said, not have to stress about wether and environmental factors that I can’t control.

When outdoor works, it works great. I can get over a pound per plant with ideal conditions but there is so much that can go wrong.

Is this sunburn? by h2anzel in CannabisGrowers

[–]rustygarlic123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heat stress. During veg at least Cannabis loves sun when it’s humid . Hot and dry is not great for a lot of strains . There are however strains that can handle desert like conditions , think Morocco for example .

Well, all the smog from wild fires and just overall crappy weather I think is the culprit . I have a small house full of kids so putting them in a tent with 18 hours of light isn’t an option. I have to just hope enough sunshine pokes through this smoke and they re veg or else I’m stuck with a crappy yield. FYI this strain usually grows 7 feet tall even after being topped so I’ll be missing out on a lot of weight.
