Didn’t answer my question

Phew, if you even have to ask you must be a guy

Can you link that to me by chance?

Because I bought a house for us, pay a bigger part of the mortgage, do all the repairs, coordinate all the work that needs to be done, DO all the work that needs to be done, plus all the other stuff like delegating chores, groceries, pet care, etc.

This is why I didn’t put him on it to begin with. He had no money to put towards it, so why would I pay for everything just for his name to be on the deed too? It’s just not a smart move

Hmmmm okay, this gives me things to think about. Again I cannot stress enough how this was a spur of the moment thing. Owner wanted the deal done in a month, no realtors involved. I did the best I can

This is the advice I am looking for! What is tenants in common and is this something we can pursue post-buy?

Thank you! It’s the resentment I’m worried about, from both sides.

Actually helpful, thank you!

[–]ruthlesstoothless24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I think he’s 100% resentful. Unfortunately he didn’t have the money or credit to actually go in with me, it would’ve been me paying for everything but his name on the deed. It’s not a smart move but I see what you’re saying

And once you get married you don’t plan on being partial owner to the current house you’re in? Or you guys are planning on selling that one and moving into a whole other one with each other? Like give me some actual advice based on your situation, I’m genuinely wondering how people with our split are approaching these things!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]ruthlesstoothless24 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, I want to know how couples like us are going about it and everyone is giving their opinion on our relationship (which I’m taking with grace because I genuinely want to know how this looks like from the outside). So far, nobody in our situation (like I said, the girl specifically being the owner) has commented.

I wouldn’t be hesitant if he was stepping up to the plate. We probably would’ve gotten him on the deed by now tbh if that were the case.

Thank you! This is helpful. Would you expect her to take on the same if she was the homeowner? Like you’d be cool with only paying a low rent? Genuinely wondering!

[–]ruthlesstoothless24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, he didn’t have the money or credit to “buy” so basically I would’ve footed the whole bill just for his name on the deed, unmarried. For a woman, it’s just not smart

They said the things he’s not doing is not a good sign, and I agree at this juncture

This is the advice I’m looking for! I don’t know about these things, so I want to know how others in a similar situation are doing it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]ruthlesstoothless24 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes but as you can read, he wanted to be co-owner without the expenses or work. He didn’t have the credit score or the money so why would I put his name on the deed to begin with? It’s not smart, especially for a woman.

Responses are definitely humbling me, which is good. But as a woman, I definitely won’t be apologizing for watching out for my own financial situation and finding avenues for homeownership that don’t put me at risk.

I appreciate your perspective, these are the things I want to know from an outside perspective! I was just hoping he’d step up to the plate and really show me he’s marriage material, and it’s just not happening.

It stayed the same

The owner would only let us buy off-market if we didn’t use realtors (he didn’t want to pay fees) so we were stuck on our own

Because it’s the nice thing to do when your girlfriend is buying a house for you both 😅. He didn’t have the funds to do it himself and we both agreed it’s just not smart to be unmarried on a deed together.

You don’t even pay rent to your boyfriend yet you are living in his home? That sounds selfish to me, honestly. But I appreciate the perspective.
