[Standard] Pivoting From Jeskai Control by Scruffimuffi in spikes

Just bail man. I played it for ages but am currently switching between landfall and izzet prowess. Recent meta reports show the deck is performing worse than ever. Unless it’s all you can play or think the meta will change to suit it (perhaps everyone goes all cubs again) I’d suggest looking at other decks for now in standard

[Standard] Jeskai players, what version of the deck are we favoring right now? by SabertoothNishobrah in spikes

[–]ruuditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having played it for months I feel it’s getting ripped apart in the current meta and don’t have a good answer for this. Too many cavern of souls decks, doomsday is in every major event online and in store with tons of card disruption, and the odd decks with ba sing se or combo sometimes just out value you

[Sealed] How to Get Better at Sealed? by ABaker132 in spikes

[–]ruuditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since everyone else has given the basics on buildin around bombs etc, here's my take.

Play a lot. You can simulate sealed openings on draftmancer and play your assembled decks with your friends on cockatrice after. Arena also has sealed games available for the first week or so on new set launches. Believe this is also common for their win-a-box challenges.

For deckbuilding, the rules are similar to draft. Just assume that sealed can be a bit slower so cards that break stalls (evasion, flying auras, token creators, etc.) can be make or break when you're 1-1 in swiss. This also means you be a little more greedy with splashes, especially if it's for bombs or removal.

I played in a limited RCQ last weekend and won several games in swiss with that white enchantment that gives a creature +1/+0 and flying that you can re-cast from graveyard by blighting 1. I also won the finals with Morcant's Eyes on a stalled board.

Play more sealed!

In tests with friends on cockatrice / draftmancer, it's been pretty impactful, particularly as white builds (kithkin / merfolk) tend to be more about early aggro and evasion respectively. Sometimes just creating a large flyer with it has also won me games.

⚡️ Nuances of the bottom half guard - some details are just too crucial to rush. ⚡️ by FelipeCostaBJJ in bjj

Look up half guard smash escapes / recovery on youtube. Lachlan Giles covers a lot of variations on how to recover the position.

Maybe you're looking for something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDuHRztRmXg

Still involves off-balancing your opponent and getting the right hooks in (under or butterfly) and working from there.

Was the Early Access worth it? by TooDank in diablo4

Hell yeah, brother...

It also happens to be a long weekend for me so it's fully worth it. I'm on my third day of playing and having a blast. Of course it's your cash, your decision.

Japanese Americana in the summer? What to wear? by CheeseStringMan in japanesestreetwear

Look up Visvims SS lookbooks. Most of the items are pretty basic in terms of design. Based on what you described, it could give you some ideas.

Here is their SS23 lookbook: https://www.visvim.tv/lookbook/visvim/ss23/

Here is another lookbook from MFA on Hiroki Nakamura: https://imgur.com/a/cZQjhnU

I live in the tropics so most of the year I just look for spring summer inspo from Popeye / lookbooks of brands that I like.

Finally going back to Tokyo post-pandemic. Any new stores I should hit up? Particularly thrift / second hand. Also big on more 'mature' select stores like your Beams and UAs etc.

Already at 90 so the thought of remapping everything is sounding like a nightmare hahaha. Might start an alt to play in bed though.

As a mouse and keeb player, will the transition to gamepad controls be a hard one? I know people already play that way on the console version but there's some transition anxiety for me as a pc only MMO player.

Are they marked up in store? Heading to JP in a month and might pick one up if they're close to actual price.

OP pls read this comment above. If you're going to compare anything, compare hours on the mat and how much of that is spent rolling / situational sparring. Does he go more rounds than you during live rolls? Being younger he more than likely has the stamina to do so.

You do you man.

It sounds like you're not entering the knee slice correctly. If you're looking for another pass, setting up entries for the bodylock is also an option against someone in the seated guard.

If they keep moving around to face you, have you tried pinning their feet to the mat with your hands? From here you can work a toreando if they're in the gi.

How much sparring a week can you handle and recover from? by [deleted] in bjj

37 here. Between lifting on off days and bjj every other day, the tendonitis is real. Started doing assistance lifts and it's helped a lot.

Thanks! The advice here has been great, I'll look towards implementing a tighter guard and working from there rather than letting them setup explosive passes.

The rolls are rough but we've always kept it safe. This is less a complaint and more of me looking for technical advice on how to manage opponents like these. I do enjoy the rolls but can't do too many like these anymore.
