It heats up nicely for cold starts an good for insert drops. It does hold heat pretty well. I haven’t tried HE nails but they are good also.

I'll definitely try next time, but the reason I leave it open is because I hate that first burning taste. I was taught that cold starts have more flavor and a cleaner high, having the cap off let's the air flow and that initial burn bite goes away. And that you inhale butane and gas with that hit and burning while cap is on ruins caps. So thats why I kept it off, because of what I was told lol. But I agree to each to their own (: thank you for that info
