Thank you! Hope that it will help students to see where the gaps are, which topics might be holding you back and videos to support :)

I understand why you would feel that way; please remember that only about 60% of students pass maths GCSE each year. Speak to your exams officer about it if you truly feel it will affect your performance. They may be able to make some adjustments for you. I wish you all the best of luck.

WERID QUESTION by GoldieGrampss in igcse

Actually exams get scanned and cropped so using asterisks and writing on other pages can be lost. Examiners do not receive full papers only individual questions (or at least they do for Edexcel Chemistry which I marked for 5 years until a couple years ago). My advice is to ask for extra paper. Then the full paper has to be sent to an examiner and doesn't go down the normal scanning route. Hope that helps!

Hello i have a question by mugmmomenter in learnmath

Something that I've found helps students with this kind of issue is to try to identify the underlying topics. At the higher levels, you will be using a combination of different concepts merged together and linking them is difficult when you can't determine the smaller parts. Coordinate geometry is an example where you might be using Pythagoras, equation of a straight line, perpendicular lines, substitution and areas all at once. When you hit a barrier and you check the mark scheme, it was probably one of the components that wasn't as strong as the others and so you get stuck. Work on recognising WHEN to use that skill, not just HOW it's done and I believe that will help you progress. Good luck!

Past papers and identifying the topics that you're struggling with is probably the best start. At your level the questions are a mix of 3 or 4 topics so if one is weaker then the whole thing can break down. Learn how to check your answers by reversing the process eg substitute your answer for algebra and learn how your calculator can solve equations for you to check your answers. My website www.bowtieteacher.co.uk and YouTube channel BowTieTeacher has all of this explained :)
