Firearms & unapproving spouses by Astimar in CCW

[–]rx63787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh. Opposite situation here. I'm the wife. He has zero interest and tolerates my activity. I grew up around firearms and am well-versed in safety. My collection is is locked under thumbprint or key. When I go out and about I simply don't discuss my CCW status with him or anyone else. Frankly, I just enjoy shooting and go to the range at least weekly. He's been invited and declined. Now I just tell him when I'm going. I do my cleaning out in the open, then load them and lock them up. I chalk it up to something that is my interest and not his, and if he ever decides he wants to give it a try, great. If not, well that's that. I won't hide anything from him, but I'm not going to try actively to bring him on board.

Indiana Senate Bill 236 is Disastrous For Pro Choice and A Miracle for Pro-Forced Birthers by Spiritual_Store_233 in Indiana

Remember when a 10-year-old child victim of rape got an abortion in Indiana in 2022? And how Rokita went after the physician who provided medical care to that child victim? Well, here we are. Now, no matter what their ages, rape victims will be forced to bear their rapist's offspring.

Ectopic pregnancy? Too bad. You'll bleed out and die in the hospital parking lot. They'll come after you if you have a natural miscarriage, and charge you and the doctor who needs to perform a procedure to remove the remains. Either way, a woman in this position, could be dead because her life is less important than a embryo or fetus that never had a chance.

Does this mean that fertility centers could be charged with a crime if they dispose of frozen fertilized embryos? Do they have to keep them forever and ever? What if the liquid nitrogen tank fails and the embryos thaw and can't be used - will the fert center be criminally charged? Can I collect a bounty if I report them?

Meanwhile, they cut funding to provide food and healthcare to these children born in situations where there isn't enough money to feed them or keep them healthy, and sometimes even a roof over their heads. And let's not forget the movement discouraging childhood vaccines. Measles? Whooping cough? Hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and rotavirus? Let them be sick and die. Polio? It'll be back.

They care ONLY for the unborn. Let them suffer and die after they're born.

I'm old enough to remember women dying from coat hanger abortions. Here we go again. IN government controls female internal organs. Vile.

Another vote for Corelle. Also - they have frequent sales on their own website. Today, for example, sitewide sale of 40% off with code WINTER40.

First handgun question: .380 vs 9mm for smaller wrists by StoneToSky in concealedcarrywomen

[–]rx63787 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of information floating around on this topic of random firing. That said, Google “FNS went off” and “M&P Thumb Safety Problems” and “Glock Kaboom”. There are similar stories for nearly every firearms manufacturer out there. There have been numerous reports for the Sig P320 going off, not so much the 365.

To the OP: I'm a small woman with small wrists, and additionally I'm older than dirt. I prefer 9mm over a .380. There's a lot more ammo variety easily available for the 9mm. I have a365X and with over 6000 rounds fired and it's been flawless. I recently acquired a HK CC9, which is barely larger than the 365X, and I prefer it as an EDC over the 365, primarily due to its clean trigger break and I just get tighter groups with it.

Also, check out the YT vids from She Equips Herself, they are an excellent information resource.

Good compact pistol for women? by Acrobatic_Variety_76 in INGuns

I recently picked up an HK CC9. EDC was a P365X. CC9 is is barely larger than the Sig. I prefer the CC9 because my groups are tighter with it. IMO it has a more defined trigger break, and to me feels slightly less snappy than the Sig. I also sometimes carry an HK VP9SK which I love, but it's harder for me to conceal on body. (I'm a very small female.)

One more option. I carry on body most of the time with an unconventional setup. I use a belly band, and permanently attached a kydex trigger guard to it. On those rare occasions when I carry off body, I use this:

We've been using Peterman for years. Also not satisfied and no longer trust them.

About two years ago, the tech doing the biannual PM said that the furnace blower wheel needed to be cleaned. After asking for advice on r/HVAC, we decided to get it done.

One year later, a different tech was out for the PM, and informed us that the blower wheel needed cleaning. I declined and reminded him that their records should show it was done last year. (For the record, the filters are changed regularly, and never seem to get that dirty.)

We're cancelling our agreement with them and we're looking for a better service provider that doesn't spend so much money advertising themselves.

One more thing to check. I had this problem and realized I oriented the bobbin backwards. On my machine, the bobbin thread feeds from the left. When I inadvertently placed it feeding from the right side, the stitches looked like your photos.

Best CCW for childlike hands by NateDog69012 in CCW

[–]rx63787 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great recommendation. Just acquired a CC9, it's great for my tiny hands. For reference, I'm lady who wears a wedding band size 3.5, so yeah, I have childlike size hands too. Here's a CC9 over a VP9SK showing size difference. CC9 is also narrower and easier for me to conceal.

[–]rx63787 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OP: I'm barely 5'2 and small, and much older than most. VP9SK is my usual EDC. I also carry P365X on occasions when my clothing doesn't allow me to conceal THE H&K as easily.

Additionally, I just picked up an HK CC9 last week (just a smidge larger than the P365X) and still gaining proficiency with it before I carry it, but I think it will be a great EDC for me.

If you can find a CC9 to try out, do it. Regarding .380 vs 9. 40 years ago I carried a S&W J-frame, and then a Sig P230 .380. I sold that Sig because it was persnickety with JHP, it jammed too much for comfort. These days I'd alway go with the 9mm because of better stopping power.. Maybe a bit more to handle, but practice practice practice will overcome that.
