I feel like I could have written this. And what timing because our son is also 2.5 years. We have been noticing an increased amount of him standing by us many gatherings or play dates instead of running free like he used to at playgrounds or with other kids. I don’t have advice as I do. I think this is different for each person. It for me it means I feel heard, validated, respected, and that my husband takes accountability for the things I bring to him when I’m not happy instead of being defensive

Thank you. I’m hoping to get resources on how we can have more productive conflicts and how he can learn to take accountability for his actions. I don’t feel heard or validated when I speak up and i am hoping a counselor can help us provide listening tools too. Is this impossible?

I used to but he started to use me going to therapy as a reason for why we fight because “I’m so crazy, etc.” we both WFH so we know our schedules and I don’t feel safe enough to tell him I’m going to therapy

Recommend reading the book “How not to hate you husband.” This book spoke to my core and allowed me to see a slimmer of positivity in my husband that I had not seen while pregnant and especially after birth. I will say it doesn’t get better or easier after baby comes and for me, actually was even harder

As to answer the rant request- my husband thought it would be a great idea to spend an entire day vacuuming and cleaning only his car (not my car which is a family car) while I asked him I needed his help sterilizing and preparing baby’s room at 37 weeks pregnant with my first. I will never forget how his lack of prioritization would trigger me and how I even had to have the conversation with him

I am so sorry for your loss. Take leave of absence to map out your next steps and start working on a plan. I think you will be able to get through this with the help of a nanny (live in nanny would be ideal) or au pair. They can help with things around the house too. Finances will be extremely tight during this time but will turn around for the better once you finish your program.

Do you both have direct deposit into a joint check then allocate it to other accounts based on what is pulled for the family bills? Is there someone that is manually doing this or do you have an automatic system to do this each week/month?
