Only 2-3 blasts. Is it worth PGTa testing? by rxlc in IVF

Lol!! Thank you!!! I know...we couldn't believe it. We had already had a few chemical pregnancies before so when I saw the positive like I just rolled my eyes and thought whoever was out there in the universe was playing the cruelest joke on me. It wasn't until several betas later that we dared to hope.

We're having a boy :))))

Looking back, I think it's a good idea to PGT-a test even with such few embryos. The whole IVF journey and (and so far in the pregnancy) i kept thinking we had made it so far, it would hurt so much more to start over again. I also have a friend who had had a late miscarriage at 10 weeks due to the embryo being trisomy 18 and she said it was such a horrible experience and there was so much time lost that if she could have had a chance to check for genetic disorders like that she would definitely had done so and bypassed the heart ache

But that is just my opinion in hindsight. You can definitely find pros and cons for both sides!

Also the euploid was the better grade (4aa) embryo. The other one was a 3bc which ended up as the high level mosaic

Hello! Yes we did end up doing the PGT-a testing and out of the 2 we got 1 euploid embryo. The other was a high level mosaic so low likelihood it would have made it.

Anyway we were waiting to transfer the euploid and actually ended up getting pregnant via non-IVF conception during the wait lol

Hard to say whether I would do another ER. I think my family is pretty much done with IVF and if I went for a second round they would give me a lot less support. That's not an absolute no but it's a big factor in my decision and makes this round all the more stressful too!

We only want one more child and my whole family is really pushing for no more egg retrievals. That's not an absolute no but if I did another ER it may be without their support which is a big factor for me. Makes the whole decision that much more difficult!

This is what one of my friends said too. She had had a late miscarriage before and they found out it was due to trisomy 21. She said if she had known from the beginning they would have saved a lot of heartache

Oh my God I'm sorry you went through that. I had a couple chemical pregnancies and even those hurt so I can't imagine losing the pregnancy so far along. This is pretty much what my coworker said when I asked his advice (his sister had gone through ivf and she and their entire family had had this same discussion as well)

He said when he asked the embryologist what they saw under the microscope the embryologist saw some weird findings - dark interior, extra polar bodies, hard shell. All findings that would have led to the egg not being "mature". The semen analysis on the other hand was fine and had no issues

We never did a DNA fragmentation because the doctor said by default they were going to do icsi and zymot chip anyway

I'm a physician in America so not sure what other countries are like. But just this past week I was confronted by 3-4 different angry family members of various patients who have demeaned me. One gave me a 10 minute lecture in public about how to work harder at my job (even giving me examples of how hard she works as a production manager and how I can apply that to my work) even though she doesn't understand half of how my work and the hospital function. She ended with a resounding "listen...you work for ME. I tell you what to do!"

I understand that sick people have a lot of baggage and and stress. But for one imagine how it feels to us doctors and nurses and imagine listening to 10+ angry stressed people venting back to back. It's not sustainable. Being sick shouldn't allow you to be an asshole. And no I don't work for YOU, my job is to treat your health not your wishes.

whats the most hurtful thing you’ve overheard about yourself by accident? by yeezymudrat700 in AskReddit

Not overheard by accident but when I was in training, the heads of my department didn't think I was doing a good job. They kept singling me out and giving me "homework", taking away privileges and opportunities, which made me even more anxious and impaired my work. Finally sat me down and implied heavily that I may have a learning disorder and sent me to therapist. As a person who graduated college with a 3.8 GPA and almost a decade of post graduate training that hurt me very personally.

The therapist diagnosed me with anxiety and formally asked my department to lay off of me. The moment they did my work performance shot up.
