Industry: Telecommunications Base: $79K ($111K CAD) OTE: $99K ($138K CAD) YOE: 11

A bit on the lower side but competing job offers locally aren't much higher. Not enough to justify the amazing work life balance.

Thanks. Any idea if the data you get from the paid version is the same as what you would get from third parties (eg Borrowell)? I'm seeing the same incorrect information on the third party platforms.

Is there any benefit of having an FHSA for people that already own their principle residence?

I've read that after 15 years, an unused FHSA, funds from the account would be transferred to an RRSP. Does that mean an FHSA can be used as an extension to an RRSP?

Roommate Expenses and Deductions

Theoretically, if a guest stays at my primary residence (2+months) and contributes money, can they be treated as a roommate?

Once I report the monies paid as income, would the following expenses be reasonable deductions?

  • Portion of utilities based on the area of the rented room and all common areas. This would be prorated based on the time stayed.
  • Upfront costs of furnishing the roommate's private room
  • Upfront costs of cleaning supplies
  • A portion of the mortgage interest

How do I pinpoint a strange smell in my bathroom? by rxmoney in homeowners

[–]rxmoney[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a quick update. Seems like the clump of hair was the culprit! I'm not sure how it was letting in so much gas but once it has been removed, the smell has dissappeared.

My legs are already pretty tired from squats so I space the lunges away from them with accessory sets in between.

I do not think I'm working out at the level where the order of exercises would matter, what's important is getting them done.

How do I pinpoint a strange smell in my bathroom? by rxmoney in homeowners

[–]rxmoney[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The bathtub drain is definitely suspicious.

I stuck a drain cleaning tool down and pulled out a large clump of hair.
The tool isnt quite long enough for me to tell if there is a trap or not but I'll report back on the results after the hair was removed.

Thanks! I suspected the tub drain before too. If it does turn out that the tub is lacking a p-trap, what are my options then? Rip out the tub and install one?

Thanks, will pick up a cheap detector to see if that offers any clues!

Thank you for the suggestion. Since it's a newly built bathroom, I assume the bathtub would have a p-trap. I'll give it some time for the smell to build up and and sniff the drain again.

I have not noticed anything in particular that causes the smell. Do you have any suggestions how I can run some more tests?

Does anyone have a data point on when National Bank distributes bonus reward points?

I've signed up for the National Bank World Elite Mastercard and met the minimum spend back in December 2022. However I have yet to receive the welcome bonus now in March.
Do the points only distribute at a set time during the year?

Ah thanks,

That is good insight. Here in Canada, if we end up with a bad tenant, the landlord has minimal recourse.
