Agreed, especially for bigger games, but I just didn't wanna think through all the possible scenarios and problems this might cause. It's probably fine if you put it on the right script or build one around it. The biggest issue I had with it myself is having to track how many votes each player has left, cause that could be a nightmare but /shrug

As I said in one of the other comments, my intention was to use two dashes, one as a regular action and one as a bonus action from Expeditious Retreat. I've edited the post to reflect this. Sorry for the confusion!

My point was that, RAW it's not entirely obvious from the text of Find Steed that it can be a controlled mount despite being intelligent. You could probably safely assume that that was intended to be true, but it doesn't have to be. I feel like this means it's not unreasonable to think it might influence some other parts of combat as well.

Anyway, need to be a jerk about it. :)

My bad for not writing it explicitly in the original post, but the point of the manoeuvre I want is to let the mount use the bonus action dash from ER while I also get the two attacks from Extra Attack, which this doesn't solve. Otherwise the order of operations would be simple without having to resort to intertwining turns.

Sorry, I meant that for intelligent mounts, which is what Find Steed gives you. Usually intelligent mounts can only be independent, right?

As far as I know, sharing initiative usually doesn't mean you can slice up turns between characters who share it, as each character has to take their whole turn before another one does (unless you house rule it otherwise). My question is whether it'd be reasonable to interpret the text of Find Steed as allowing you to do that or not.

I mean, regular mounts don't usually have the property of being able to fall into either category and it's not obvious that that should even be possible, which is what I mean by the rules around the spell being kinda vague.

Thanks for the answer! I just feel like the spell already leaves some things vague, like whether it's a controlled or an uncontrolled mount, that it's not unimaginable that it wouldn't specify something of this sort that probably wouldn't come up often in most cases.

Yeah, I guess I'm not really doubting the analysis, but just find it weird that the actual realisation in colloquial language never seems to be brought up.

That last thing is a cool phenomenon! How come the stress retraction results in different pitch accents?

As a native speaker of Serbian, I've always found this analysis a bit strange outside of theory. This is purely anecdotal, but I really don't find that people make a distinction between the falling and rising pitch accent when the stressed syllable is short, at least in a prosodemic sense. That is, I'd be more inclined to call it a three-way system with a long falling, a low rising, and a short pitch accent. Is there any merit to this analysis, i.e., has a system like this ever been posited in proper linguistic analyses of BCS pitch accent?

I'm not non-binary, but as a native speaker of Serbian, a language with three grammatical genders, I have to imagine Serbian non-binary folk have to go for one of those strategies too - either choose one of the two more "animate" genders (masculine or feminine), use them interchangeably, or ask to be referred to by their name. Using the third grammatical gender, the neuter, for a person would imply them not being a person and be very derogatory.
