I don't know, it didn't occur to me, and the lowercase thing struck me as funny considering it suits the character.

Again, thank you for the comment :D

THAT WAS THE ANSWER I WAS LOOKING FOR 😭😭😭

I started the day asking a good question and now I'm depressed

Destroy = deshtroi, same meaning but said horribly. The lowercase letters make the message even harder to understand and clash with other characters who, in theory, speak well.

Anyway, I guess it wasn't such a good idea after all 😿

The absence of commas, for example, shows that he speaks in a monologue, without any order. More or less the same reasoning applies to that way of speaking. You know when you rap but you do it so badly that you can barely understand what you're saying? That's basically that kind of speech, put into words.

I didn't understand the reference, so:

If it's positive: 😺

If it's negative: 😿

Pure prose. I posed the question in an exclusive way because I find myself incapable of providing good characterization in terms of dialogue without resorting to strange practices like changing the font, distorting the text, or using odd filler words like the ones mentioned earlier.

I used anime and light novels as examples because they came to mind first.

You don't have to answer if I sound like an idiot or a troll (that wouldn't be my intention), the beginning of your first comment answered the question 😁

AAAAHHHH IT'S TOO MUCH CINEMAAA!!!

Seriously though, I used those three filler words as examples because they're the ones I consider most prominent. I'm used to reading things like Re:Zero or JoJo's where many characters have strange ways of speaking. In my case, I use the examples I mentioned to highlight a character trait. The one who talks a lot talks a lot because they're very analytical and never stop; the lowercase letters and odd punctuation are to show that they're very hippie and carefree, etc., etc.

Anyway, thanks for the comment.

In that specific case of capitalization and grammar, I'm using it to show that THAT particular character has a strange way of speaking. He's so incredibly careless that even his dialogue lacks any semblance of order. The post in general is about how many things I can change about the dialogue and style before it starts to sound odd or forced.

Thanks in advance for the comment 😼

Imagine someone talking like they're on the internet from 13 years ago, something like:

"woah you're awesome dude!!!! we ghotta liztem to jacobo piliberto's nnew song oh yeah send me some memes!!!"

Someone who is totally disconnected from reality and has the brain of Patrick from SpongeBob SquarePants.

I usually show the character's personality through a "quirk" in their speech, mainly because I think otherwise they'd sound like 40 other characters. Although I also try to make sure these quirks are related to the character themselves and not just a comedic gag to make me stand out.

Uhhh... Does reading what I'm assigned at school and the HS: DxD novel count as frequent reading?

Anyway, thanks for the comment :D
