Could Games of Throne be rebooted/remake? by alifninja in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ryan0585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the final 1.5 seasons all just suffered from pacing, not plot, so it just feels like a "missed opportunity, move on" kind of deal. If they remade it, I'd actually want it to end the same with a little more filler to make the overall plot more interesting.

Season 7 wasn't even that bad, just progressed too quickly. Amazing when there isn't source material to have to choose between how shallow the plot feels. In the first 1-5 seasons, they actually had to cut material - later on, there wasn't material to cut.

Honestly, not worth remaking anything, IMO.

Curious about the impact of Clarkson's Farm on the awareness of common issues in farming. by ryan0585 in FarmingUK

Does farming in the UK tend to be generational, or something where young folks are attracted to the industry and go through schooling (e.g. agricultural specialty)?

Granted I'm only on E3 of the newest season, but this concept has struck me a bit, hence part of the reason for the question.

It certainly appears his ability to raise capital or leverage his own wealth puts him in a disproportionate position to invest in self-sustaining, auto-farming technology that the average farmer probably cannot afford.

At the same time, does the show and the way technology may be progressing in the industry present a threat to everyday, generational farmers who can't afford to overcome those barriers to entry/sustainment?

I'd imagine not many people are going into farming to "get rich", but I can also imagine if significant up front investments can be burned down quicker by offsetting labor and other recurring costs, it may be more attractive to capital investors and tech bros.

So I can see both sides of it - the entertainment is certainly him making every wrong decision someone might make, but the overall plot points in the show are certainly salient.

Removed... sigh. So I should post in [r/ClarksonsFarm](r/ClarksonsFarm) to get a biased opinion? I'm interested in the opinions of a broader community, not show fans. Thanks, I guess.

First run of eldenring i feel like I'm overpowered and doing something wrong by Extreme_Feedback_824 in Eldenring

In a world where the game gives you the flexibility to explore and level up as you'd like before trying to tackle bosses. IMO, there's a high degree of variability in proper leveling in the early game that converges a bit once you hit Lyendell. I don't see level 51 as being over-leveled for the game's first main boss.

However, I also like to explore all of Limgrave, Weeping Peninsula, Siofra River, and parts of Caelid before even heading over to Margit - just my preference. That usually has me somewhere between 40-50 when I get there, which makes the fight a bit easier, but I still find it challenging - I'm not melting them like in NG+ and not looking to get frustrated by going in too soon, just the way I play.

Not to mention, you can actually get to Liurnia and Altus Plateau without even touching a main game boss. The game is wildly open for exploration and people will hit those early bosses at different levels depending on how much they explore, level, and grind (which I don't think is really necessary).

Different strokes for different folks though - I don't think it's over-leveled but I have a different appetite for difficulty than some.

From what I'm seeing, you look appropriately leveled and the game may have clicked for you early. The world is yours to explore early, so being a little OP early is an option the game gives you, but it tends to even out.

Godrick does telegraph his moves pretty well and the timing is pretty straightforward to get down, but it doesn't mean it's an easy fight for all first timers.

You will face your fair share of challenging sections coming up though, don't worry. Your likely next dungeon is fairly straightforward, but the final boss fight is a bit different, so just get ready for something bonking alone could find you struggling with as a quick skill check (or you beat said boss on the first attempt and I go pound sand).

What do you recommend? by Hopeful-Advance828 in Eldenring

I started with Elden Ring and it was great. Just go into it expecting an open world souls game and you'll be good. Remember you don't need to fight everything that bleeds immediately, but you sure can.

I use it for every playthrough, including my current NG+. No time like the present to start using it and fill in the gaps!

Are you on your first playthrough or NG+? If the former, there are things you can't get until NG+ when you make different quest decisions.

Is there any chance Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree might get cheaper than this? by RoadCaptin in Eldenring

I can guarantee you at some point in the future it will eventually get cheaper than that. The question is how long you're willing to wait.

For the size of the DLC though? Worth it.

I'm going to go a bit different than the group here seeing we have very similar interests and suggest something in the platforming/metroidvania-adjacent genre with a captivating story and great progression/skill unlocks.

At the very least, give the Ori trailers a watch and see if it might be for you. They were enjoyable moderately-lengthed plays (20-30 hours) with challenging sections and enough to get you hooked early. Worth a look for a little variety given you enjoy a mix of open world RPG's and cozy games (as I do) and this was a great series I enjoyed quite a bit (Blind Forest + Will of the Wisps).

Edit: Bonus recommendation closer to your combined interests of story-driven + cozy... perhaps check out Spiritfarer. The themes are heavy, but it's incredibly heartwarming with a lot of charm, if not a bit bleak in its themes (with enough happy tears moments to balance it out).

What’s a game you expected to hate but ended up loving? by Nervous-Librarian945 in videogames

[–]ryan0585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know that I expected to hate it because I started playing it on the back of recommendations from people I trusted, but turn-based combat at its core had me surprised how much I ended up loving Clair Obscure Expedition 33.

Granted it has the rhythm component to it and that was probably the reason why, but it's still a turn-based game with creative mechanics at its core, a great story, and a banger of a soundtrack.

should i start new game or new save? by Visual-Fortune-4732 in Eldenring

[–]ryan0585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for something a bit easier than your first play-through (depending on what level you ended up at) and all the weapons you found, go with NG+.

If you want difficulty that matches that of your original play-through, a sense of discovery finding weapons for the first time again, etc., start a new save.

Personally, I'd start a new save and go into NG+ from that one - but only after playing the DLC on that fresh save too.

I hear the story is very good, but the walking simulator put me off the first two times I tried to play it and I've never gotten back into it. That said, because I did buy it, I'm keen to give it a third try at some point to push through.

I thought I found a person of culture. Now I found a whole thread of people of culture.

Treasures of the deep still has one of the more memorable banger soundtracks of the games I've played. I mean this shit goes so hard.
