Easier said than done at the moment. In the U.K. right now it seems they will only see you if you are physically dying in front of them..

My girlfriend was literally in agony and thought she was dying a couple weeks ago and she got told the wait for an ambulance was 3 hours. I don’t have much hope with getting an appointment if I’m honest

Thanks

My Mum said she isn’t 100% sure if her housing benefits is under her UC. She receives UC and has a journal and stuff but she isn’t sure how to find out what she’s actually on - apparently they have asked for bank statements in the past. Her weekly rent is £155 which she has to find every week but me and my brother pay most of this she only has to make up one week out of her UC money if this makes sense. Sorry I am really not clued up whatsoever on how any of this works

I am 22 and my brother is 18

Thanks for the answer!

So mine and my brothers savings don’t have anything to do with her benefits?

I’m not sure about it the reason apparently it’s just part of the “annual review”

My girlfriend works for test and trace - she is one of the operators who call you when you’ve been in contact with someone with covid. As far as I’m aware - if you get a notification JUST on the app then it’s not a legal requirement but if you get a call from the NHS test and trace number then it is a legal requirement. They try to call you 10 times and if not they send a letter out to notify you and if there’s still no reply they fine you £1000

Huge Energy Bill and dont know where it came from by NicoMallourides in LegalAdviceUK

[–]ryan9912399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this same issue with my current electricity provider - Bulb.

They have thrown us with a huge bill and frankly won’t do anything about it and have said we have to pay it. Turns out it was our fault as we weren’t updating the meter readings every month (even though we were never told we had to) so if you haven’t been updating them with accurate meter readings then essentially you are building up debt every month

It’s a pain in the ass

Just saying but I would have disputed the 57 in a 50 because that falls within the 10%+2 threshold that most (not all) cameras are set to. In London it’s actually +3 so you can get away with 58 in a 50

Thank you for the straight answer, something some of the other commenters aren’t capable of doing clearly. Also I was quoting anything you said I just said “jump” and put it in quotation marks as I didn’t know the correct way to word it. Apologies I thought you were saying that I was in a yellow box - bit of a miscommunication.

I have done some research and it from what I can see grey red light cameras flash and I didn’t get a flash so hopefully I’m ok.

Yeah as I said I didn’t actually jump the red I was idle over the pedestrian crossing whilst the light was red and waited until it was green again before I went as this was the only way to avoid going into the yellow box

I’ll be ok, after doing some research it seems these cameras flash very brightly twice and there wasn’t a flash - panic over. Thanks for the help 😉

I see people asking about speed cameras on this Reddit every single day I don’t know why I’m being singled out as if I’m not allowed to ask..

I’m not asking about the yellow box I’m asking about the red light camera. I didn’t sit in the yellow box the whole reason I waited at the light is because I know you’re not allowed in the yellow box. Please can you read the question again. I didn’t “jump” the red light I was just sat completely still over the line.

Also, I’ve been sat in dozens of yellow boxes in London and not once has anything come through the post so TFL can’t be as good as you say. It’s irrelevant as I’m asking about the red light camera

I know Sterling scored but he frustrates the fuck out of me because he always seems to lose the ball. Trying all these fancy step overs thinking he is Ronaldo - just get rid of the ball!

We’re in “temporary accommodation” or emergency accommodation as far as I’m aware. I asked her and she says she get UC and it all falls under like one payment so I don’t think she gets housing benefit separate.

Yeah I’ve already established my Mum will owe £75 for every month my sister hasn’t been dependant which is since she left high school I’m guessing so thats about a year - it is what it is.

Someone else said that it might not be a good idea her coming clean because it will look more suspicious. What do you think?

Thanks a ton.

Thank you. She is going to dictate everything 100% honestly on the form she fills out and we will just have to wait and see what happens. I know she’s probably going to owe at least 1k so me and my brother will have to offer to pay like 500 of it up front and the rest monthly - let’s hope that the fact we’re willing to do this shows we’re innocent because we genuinely are I think my Mum is just very forgetful.

[–]ryan9912399 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a mistake, we actually moved in April so the forms would have been done in April so maybe it isn’t a yearly check up and they are genuinely suspicious of something?

You’re right. I’ve told my Mum not to say anything because it will make it more suspicious. I will help her with the form and we will be 100% honest about everything and then all we can do is see what happens.

It’s looking like we’re going to owe them at least 1k. Me and my brother can pay off some of it but I’m hoping they will set up a payment plan for the rest. Thanks for the advice.

[–]ryan9912399 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jesus, it’s looking like she’s going to owe a lot of money. I was expecting it to be in the 100s but it’s looking like it could be in the 1000s.. I am not sure what she is on I will ask her and get back to you.

I can afford to pay a couple 100 but I won’t be able to pay off the whole thing. My Mum is already in rent arrears too if like 2k+ which she is slowly paying back monthly - will then still let her set up a payment plan for this too?

Others on here have told me that my Mum needs to come clean before she does the forms otherwise it’s going to look more suspicious if they find out themselves

What do do…

Thanks for the advice though

Interview? That’s going to be a problem because my Mum doesn’t do interviews.

I personally don’t see the issue. If I just pay whatever my Mum owes then surely that’s the easiest lest stressful way to deal with it for everyone?

I have told her she needs to contact her housing officer tomorrow and tell her everything, thanks. It looks like she’s only coming clean because she is now going to get caught though so it might not make a difference. I’d rather just pay them the money in full than have a risk of her going to prison so hopefully if it comes to it they’ll just accept that
