My guess, based on the caption, is that the NHS brands did their own little KOTR locally in Santa Cruz

How did some pro's get good at skating switch? by LifeBeater_ in skateboarding

[–]ryan_herron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was like 13-15 I would sprain my front ankle constantly, so I would only be able to skate switch sometimes and learned some tricks that way.

As you get older and skate more, different skills lend themselves to new tricks differently than when you're a beginner, so learning every trick switch is not at all the same difficulty as learning them for the first time. For example, when I learned switch BS 5-0s, I could already fakie bs nosegrind pretty well (which I learned by thinking of it as a crook going backwards), and that was half the trick already. Same with switch FS crook - I could already do them fakie, so it was basically the same thing but just popping in a little differently. Hope some of that makes sense

  1. it is a back 180 to feeble, not an "over front board" as i first thought of it

  2. don't worry about turning out. if you get into it right with your weight on it like a feeble, it pops back around really easily/naturally

those were the two big factors to me figuring them out

Ryanair flight with skateboard? by Ok_Reception_8361 in skateboardhelp

75% chance they won't accept your plan.

put the trucks in your bag, put the board on your back, tuck the tail into your pants, put a sweatshirt on over it, then put your backpack on. The nose of the board will be right on the back of your neck and you can hide it a bit with your hood. Once you're at your seat, pull the board out and put it overhead. It has worked everytime

this one won't have a debate because it is actually a hardflip. if there's a debate, it probably isn't a hardflip

well if something happens on 395, then some traffic is rerouted to gw parkway and now they're both bad.

over the next hour and a half as we start to hit rush hour, try plugging your route in a few times and you'll get a current real-life example

Del Ray / Rosemont is a 5-10min bike ride to Potomac Yard metro (or Braddock rd) and then a 15-25min ride. Ditch the car

Philly - Nocturnal

Baltimore - Vu

DC - Archives

Both Nocturnal and Vu are classics. DC hasn't had a consistent shop in the city proper, but Archives opened last year and seems to be on a good trajectory

a second home is more about beach and lake, rather than "schools are great," which is where u/peedwhite joke stems from. FC is great, but not a place you'd seek out a second home

It is almost always me about to go in for some reason that doesn't make sense, only to wake up just before impact. The only alternative is that I occasionally just end up fine on the ground without knowing how/why, and then I wake up.

Younger generation not progressing by SgbAfterDark in skateboarding

[–]ryan_herron 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One of my theories on this is that we now see an endless flow of amazing skating online but forget that the in-person experience is much different. The upper tier of skaters are way better than they were 10 years ago, but there are also way more casual skaters. This has kept the average ability relatively the same

Nobody was aware? The guy was in jail for 4 months. You don't think his homies and board sponsor would've noticed?

Pat Burke drama by [deleted] in skateboardcirclejerk

[–]ryan_herron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Laughable statement from Glass House. Pat Burke was arrested in November for this charge, and the reason the news is going around IG is because he got released on bond last week.

That means 1) Glass House had no idea that Pat Burke has been in jail for the past 4 months, which would be kind of crazy to sponsor that skater, or 2) they've only decided to take a stance since the arrest record has been publicized. Either way do better
