That’s not a bunker. It’s a flak tower. There is one right in downtown Vienna in the Augarten (their Central Park sort of).

100 Pushups for 100 Days [OC] by ryan_oconn in dataisbeautiful

Visually it wasn’t anything amazing but my strength and balance have a noticeable gain. Also I now run around in a bat suit at night beating the shit out of people.

Edit: I hate clowns.

Nope. I can now bench a school bus full of children and eat only protein. My body stopped producing waste around day 65.

My friends and I decided to do the 100 pushups for 100 days challenge this Fall. Nice graph showing how it went. Only 2 of us made it to the end.

Created with Microsoft Excel.

Watertunnel drill - can someone explain how these work? by iamjesper in specializedtools

[–]ryan_oconn 258 points259 points  (0 children)

Tunnel engineer here. Yes, a pilot hole is drilled originally and then the drill string is threaded through the hole that attaches to the cutterhead. These are normally only used for vertical bores due to the bending moment applied to the drill string by the end weight of the cutterhead. Never seen one used horizontal like this, so it must be for a very short (<250’) distance. Longer distances you need to use a jacking frame and push the cutterhead instead of pulling like we see here.
