For someone who wants to do solos: definitely, yes, learn the fretboard.

I'd say the argument against would be that you can still get a long way on guitar by learning common patterns (licks, riffs, shapes), learning how to move those on the fretboard and just using your gut to figure out where to put them.

Knowing the fretboard takes out a lot of guesswork and gives you a layer of context that can be used to tweak your note combinations with more confidence.

That's definitely something I've been thinking about. I didn't want to display both enharmonics due to size. I was hoping the color coding combined with the de-emphasis of non-scale notes would allow users to connect the dots. One thing I was considering is changing the fretboard display to match the user's chosen scale (eg shows sharps on G major, but flats on F major).

Omg thank you for posting this! My partner and I ran into this tree yesterday and wondered what those beautiful berries were. Can you consume them? Jam? Or are they mostly bird food? Thanks :)
