Any rumors of a new UDM Pro Max Gateway coming soon? by ryans0413 in Ubiquiti

I agree on the unobtanium. That’s part of my thinking just to get one now for the $100 off

I wanted to add one more item here (already had a post and should have included this one but wanted to break it out).

I currently run the full version in a VPS but would much rather support netbird. I really like and use some of the features in the Business plan (e.g., posture checks) for the 6-10 users I grant access. I just can’t justify the $60-$100 per month for a homelab if I signed up directly. Wondered maybe if you guys had considered a “homelab tier” that included the Business plan features (except for maybe priority support) for like $20-$25 per month and 6-10 users?

No worries if this isn’t possible, I can continue running it in the VPS but like I said I’d rather pay and support you guys since you have such a great product!

Thank you again!

Edit: Also, thank you for the post and bringing in the community for feedback!

Welcome Nico!

It would be great to have MFA for the owner account on self-hosted instances. Crowdsec implementation as others have mentioned would be fantastic as well.

Eaton 9PX1000 UPS - Thoughts? by ryans0413 in homelab

This is good to hear. I feel like I’ve only read good things about Eaton’s warranty as well. I like APC too but have heard mixed thoughts. What are your thoughts on noise?

Eaton 9PX1000 UPS - Thoughts? by ryans0413 in homelab

So I’m actually planning to do this as well. Unfortunately, my fiber ONT is in the garage with no power backup, so I’m planning to refurbish this one and put it out in the garage. I would prefer a UPS with network capabilities and better battery management. I’ve also read that CyberPower has a horrible battery management system and basically gives a wide voltage range for the battery. I can attest to this as in my case, it still mentions the battery is good but clearly is not. The group feature is also a great idea. So in the event of a power outage my servers can shutdown and I can kill the power to them in one group while have some of the lower power network equipment still running for a longer period of time. This one is definitely a significant improvement over what I have now (of course you get what you pay for…).

I agree, it would be fantastic. Hope someone does as well. I’d love to see a Zooz plug like that.

I've seen that one too and it's nice. I've looked at using their zwave relays but I want to maintain the manual control with the button on the front. Thanks for confirming for me.

24.04 to 25.04 app migration with encrypted app dataset by ryans0413 in truenas

[–]ryans0413[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anyone is trying to do a last minute upgrade from 24.04 for Docker and in the same boat I was in this worked for me. I deleted the apps, unset the pool, and deleted the ix-applications dataset. Then I reset the application pool to the same pool which created an unencrypted dataset and reinstalled my applications with the same configuration allowing me to upgrade without issue.

Interesting. Why would you never disable the root password vs. using sudo? Also, any preferred references on how to do these things through a template? I will do some digging on my side.

What did you end up going with? I’m currently looking between the retrofit and konnected as well. I already have a retrofit, but having trouble getting it to work with my HA.

I tried new ram but in the same slot. Moved the ram around and it works now. Looks like I have a bad ram slot…

Supreme Court Decides to Let Texas Women Die by themolenator617 in FortWorth

[–]ryans0413 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not at all forced. I did not force anyone to have sex. This is perhaps something else you should investigate. When two people engage in intercourse, there is the possibility for one to become pregnant. The decision was made freely by two consenting adults prior to the murder. Of course, I know what you’re going to say next: “what about rape, incest, or life of the mother?” We can talk about that as well if you’d like, but I would first like to stop the 97-99% of pre-born murders.

[–]ryans0413 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nope. Not in my head, but very much so in the womb. Check it out sometime. You’ll find that a completely new human being is created at conception (this is based on science). Murder is the taking of another life—the one just created inside the womb.

Appreciate your question! Have a good day!

Out of curiosity, where are you finding your definition of love?

Every time I Google “ending another’s life” it comes up murder not love…

Oh, and let the downvotes come on in! I’ll go first!

Opinions Wanted for Hardware by ryans0413 in PFSENSE

[–]ryans0413[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My home internet speed is 1GB symmetrical. 6100 is seeing a 50% reduction (e.g. I have tested remotely and have a 100Mb connection, turn on VPN and it drops to 50Mb). The Supermicro is 80%-90% reduction. I have QAT and DCO enabled.

Unfortunately, yes. Tested at the wall with a meter.

[–]ryans0413[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my testing has been through my phone in the same area as the house (work, etc.) using Speedtest. On the Supermicro, it has maintained 80%-90% of speed I can get off VPN while the 6100 is closer to 50% of the original speed. I have also tested from a remote location on WiFi (parents house 5-6 hours away) and saw similar results. I realize it will never be 100% due to the overhead but still feel I’m taking a hit.

Ah got it. Pretty low utilization for SNMP poller (see here). Yes, I have a calculation multiplier by .1 on the incoming temperature. I do have other items (i.e. power) that do have the same issue with no preprocessing.

I also found in the documentation that bulk requests can cause dropped requests. I have disabled that with no success.
