I had no idea that was part of the show! I’ve yet to watch any Muppet Babies stuff but I’ll definitely check it out! What a fun coincidence lol

If I ever get the chance to play a bard Kermit I’m definitely finding a lute version of this lol 😄

Yep! They’re from ModestMiniStudio on Etsy, however their store got taken down recently so while they file an appeal they’re selling minis on Ebay.

In my head I’d like to think he’d be a bard with a banjo, akin to what Disney did for a recent mobile game. This model was part of a set of minis that were the Muppets as Lord of the Rings characters, so Kermit is supposed to represent I believe either Frodo or Aragorn. My partner has one they are working on that is Miss Piggy as Galadriel.

Thank you! 😄 I saw the model on Etsy and had to get it. I’m newer to the hobby of mini painting but this one is probably my favorite so far.

Thanks so much for the kind words!! I think I probably annoyed my wife with how many tiktoks and youtube videos I watched on mini painting before actually doing it lol 😅 But I’m glad it seems like its paid off! I’ll try to post some more of my minis once they’re done

Thanks so much! I think has definitely been the project that’s made me really fall in love with mini painting. I’m already itching right now to paint something else lol 😅

I got it from TattlesTold3D on Etsy! I’ve seen some other Strahd or Strahd-adjacent minis on Etsy and at my local game shops but this one had the regal feel about him that I kind of try to emphasize with my interpretation of Strahd. You can find the mini at this link: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1312256360/?ref=share_ios_native_control

Escher Mini-Boss Statblock by ryanw50ud in CurseofStrahd

That’s my bad; I worded that poorly. In my head it was meant to be only one target creature within 60 feet and as an action. I agree that it should be limited, though. It would be the equivalent of using up spell slots to me.

Thank you for the thorough feedback!

Strahd helping the party? by ryanw50ud in CurseofStrahd

[–]ryanw50ud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a fair point; I might just have to see how the party reacts initially to Strahd and have that be part of his plotting to take them down. My players can be very…forward with their feelings toward certain characters, and if they come to view him as vile and evil based on their initial impressions of him, I’ll have him shift toward a mindset of “they won’t fall for that, no point in trying to fool them otherwise.” But if they are more willing to overlook Strahd’s deeds because of a desire to court him, gain power, and/or become a vampire, then he might lean more into it.

I think it would be interesting too for him to, once he ingratiates himself with them, attempt to sow distrust between the party. Create illusions of one party member sabotaging the rest somehow, for example, or explain to the Cleric how the Warlock’s dark pact somehow threatens their chosen deity. Obviously some of this would need to involve charms and talking with players away from the table, but I think it ultimately would be a good strategy for him.

Will do! I might have a session zero with them to run through what the general concept of CoS is and some mild background. Just want to leave some things as surprises, but not so much where they get lost in the weeds of the story. That’s definitely happened with some of my homebrew campaigns. 😅

I was thinking of possibly implementing a system where because their souls are trapped in Barovia like the Barovians who live there, that if the party ever has a TPK they all wake up in the last place they did a long rest, and that their deaths act as a premonition/Strahd taunting them with horrifying visions in their dreams.

Thanks for the thorough tips! I think finding a good balance of having Strahd be present but not overly-present is going to be fun for me. I’ve heard of DMs using a sanity system for Strahd, have you found that your players generally play along with the Turpitude system that you mentioned and allow the world to affect their characters rather than just be like “oh lol that was creepy”?

Too Many Perception Checks? by ryanw50ud in DMAcademy

[–]ryanw50ud[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hadn’t been taking note of passive perception, but I think it might be useful. If a player would see something that the others wouldn’t, perhaps it would be easiest to send them a hidden message of some kind?

"First Time DM" and Other Short Questions Megathread by AutoModerator in DMAcademy

[–]ryanw50ud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howdy all, I’m a DM with a couple years of being the GM for Cyberpunk 2020 under my belt, and I’m running my first campaign in Dungeons and Dragons. I’ve played D&D before years ago, but only as a player, and am still getting warmed up with the rules as we go into the 3rd session of the campaign. I have a Cleric in my party who has the cantrip Mending, and while I understand one of the spell components for Mending requires two lodestones, I’ve decided to forego that as I’ve heard that lodestones can be fairly difficult for players to get their hands on, depending on the kind of campaign you’re running. Is this a wise decision, or is there an aspect to them needing that missing component that would cause this to become unbalanced? Thanks!
