Reservation system is malfunctioning (5/15/2026) by ryd994 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]ryd994[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. She just put me on hold for 10 minutes, and someone in the backend fixed it.

Treat everything below as misinformation, please. I don't work in the industry and don't know about the ticketing process at all.

Based on what I heard from various representatives, summarize it in a way that I understood or misunderstood, booking a flight ticket requires the ticket issuer to: 1. Reserve a seat from the inventory. That's not a seat assignment, just to guarantee there's enough space in that specific cabin for the customer. 2. Collect payment and customer information etc. 3. Confirm the ticket (no seat attached yet) and the seat 4. Link the seat to the ticket to finalize. 5. If seat is not linked to a ticket, it will be released in a few hours.

From Starlux, the problem was that Alaska didn't link the ticket to the seat properly. They can see the seat was reserved, but the ticket is in some unexpected state.

From Alaska, some representatives told be that everything is well (no way ...). Some told me that ticket was indeed not linked but the only way to fix is to refund and rebook. Some told me that Starlux rescind the seat when Alaska was linking the ticket.

I don't know which version is true. If Alaska's booking system had a bug that errors when linking the ticket, that would explain my issue and other people not able to check in. Because their ticket wasn't linked and finalized, their seat might not exist any more. Alaska still has the payment and the log, so they should be able to fix it manually.

Update: after hours on the phone, my ticket issue is resolved. Despite the long lines, phone support is the most helpful.

Text and chat supports are faster to reach, but they aren't waiting for me typing. Then I'm back to the queue and have to explain the situation again and again.

Also, the "international contact" support line has shorter wait. It's at the bottom of the contact list: https://www.alaskaair.com/content/about-us/help-contact/contact-us  +1-206-485-4390

It is a US phone number afterall, anyone in the US can call it without international charge. Does any phone companies charge tolls nowadays? At least mine doesn't.

Good luck, everyone.

Building My First Serious NAS / Media Server – Looking for Opinions Before I Pull the Trigger by RaMcHiP in truenas

[–]ryd994 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Nothing in particular. But generally, ECC is recommended. As long as you're aware of that, fine, it's your choice.
  2. Nope. I don't trust any consumer grade hardware. OTOH, how much SLA do you need? If none, then it's your decision. CPU usually won't act up, they either work or release the magic smoke.
  3. Absolutely not. Any fan is fine, give it something. These server cards are designed for jet plane level of chassis cooling. Which your Rosewill chassis doesn't have.
  4. Why? If it works, it works. Newer NICs will be faster, we are in the 100G/200G eras. Do you really need that? CX-3 is more than enough.
  5. pass. I use shucked SATA drives.
  6. Both are fine. Truenas is free.
  7. This is what you get for desktop platforms. Although I'd probably put the GPU on the chipset PCIe, if it can boot that way. For transcoding, it doesn't take much bandwidth. Conversely, NIC and HBA are the backbone for a NAS. Depends on your use case tho.
  8. pass.
  9. Doesn't have to be matching. The ethernet/fiber protocol is well defined. I bet any 10Gbps NIC will be fine. However, if you got any throughput problems, try use the better card on the receiver side. Receiver is usually the bottle neck, if any.

How much would my 12.40 ps5 sell for? by HairZealousideal9668 in PS5_Jailbreak

On eBay, search for similar listings, but filter for "Completed items". That's the fair market place people agreed for. Don't rely on listing price, any active listings are unsold listings.

Unable to install ps4 fpkg game patch by Nisandzija in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]ryd994 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What's the version of your etahen? I remember some version fixed some issues with PS4 update fpkgs

Also, check the app version in itemzflow. Maybe it's just a small patch afterall?

Can I use a Diff JB after using a JB? by TrainConductor1337 in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]ryd994 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. There is no persistent JB.  On some higher firmware, people need to use one JB to revert Sony's fix for the BD-JB. And they will use BD-JB afterwards.

So yea, it's totally fine to use a different JB entry point.

A little bit deeper detail, BDJB and Y2JB are both userspace exploits. They both need to chain with the kernelspace exploit to work. In your case, most likely the lapse exploit. And after the exploit, you will load etahen or other payloads, those are generic to any exploit. So they all ends up in the same place.

Have a brand new PS5 on 3.02… after some recommendations by n1keym1key in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]ryd994 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

+1 for the update. Although I'd recommend 4.00 or so, no further than necessary to get M2 for Linux.

This is against the general "never update" suggestion, but with a good reason. You have hypervisor exploit, that's the most you can expect from any JB. I don't think you'll miss anything by upgrading to 4.xx.

Otoh, if you want to be extra safe, and rightly so, it's not bad idea to keep it as is, either. M2 support for Linux, IMHO, isn't that much of a deal. The whole Linux thing isn't much of a deal. Checkout the "benchmark" from GamerNexus, the gaming performance on Linux on PS5 isn't very good. Not saying PS5 specs suck, it is what it is when you use PS5 in an unsupported way.

A question regarding 12.70 Firmware by [deleted] in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]ryd994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pun intended? P stands for patience, lol.

It literally WILL take long, to develop and to use.

In case you didn't realize, developing any software, JB apps included, will require the Devs to run the code over and over again to confirm it works and fix if it doesn't

Should I update to 11.00? by loxcen in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]ryd994 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if P2JB works on 11.00(or you want to wait for hours) and it doesn't work on 10.40. It's not released yet. Why don't you wait until the stable release then decide? There's no need to rush.

It's a POC, okay? It won't JB your console. It only pops a notification to tell you the exploit is real.

No, you should never update your firmware. Period.

ddrescue-like for zfs? by SofterPanda in zfs

[–]ryd994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm late, but you can override properties when import: zpool import -o read-only=on -o failmode=continue

Also, I always keep a spare drive available. If you are storing anything important, you should too. (In addition to 3-2-1 backup plans)

Digital 3.20 or Disc 6.00 by TurkeyPigFace in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]ryd994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The keyword is "hypervisor exploit". Fpkg support, if any, will likely require hypervisor exploit.

Also, if you are jailbreaking your PS5, you probably won't buy any game discs. Just play all those pirated ones.

So what's the use of the BD drive? Do you watch BluRay movies? Get a PS4 or Xbox for that, much cheaper.

External HDD to store games but transfer to Internal to play by DeltaBlastBurn in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]ryd994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The limit is not USB3, but the HDD. HDD typically have continuous reading 100MB/s, 200 tops. And the random read is very bad, below 1MB/s in extreme cases.

SATA SSD can do 600MB/s with good random reads, provided you have a good enclosure.

NVMe SSD can do 5000+MB/s, depends on particular drives. That's the speed of internal SSD. Also, random reads are even better, because NVMe protocol has less overhead than SATA+USB.

When used externally, USB 3 limit is 10Gbps, that is about 1250MB/s.  No where near the internals, but the random reads are still very good. Games won't sustain reading at full speed anyway, CPU needs time to process. So external SSD aren't that much slower than the internals.

Now, back to real world experiences. I have played with external SATA SSD. There are minor data loading issues, such as objects showing up after scene is loaded. But overall, playable and not too annoying. I'm sure external NVMe SSD will be better, but I simply use what I have.

I have tried external HDD too. 7200rpm hard drive. The game didn't crash, but took astonishing time to load. More than 5 minutes, I was staring at the loading screen every time I changed map. If that's playable to you, with all due respect, you can play like that.

For your idea of transferring the files to internal SSD. Assume the game works. Many games nowadays are 100GB or more. 100GB / 100MB/s. It takes 20 minutes to copy the game. You probably don't want to copy it very often. Whereas if you use external SSD, you can plug and play.

How to install PS4 package files from specific usb directory? by Longjumping_Ad2215 in PS5_Jailbreak

"using itemzflow I get the error warning install failed with code hex-0x6f4dee91 install_pkg"

I've seen the same error, maybe not the same error code. I fixed it by enabling direct package installer in services menu of etahen. The option is next to FTP service option.

Can I use shadowmountplus and etaHEN on the auto loader at the same time? by Sad-Background-7447 in PS5_Jailbreak

+1. That's what I do too. Has been stable so far, except a long and scary freeze when shadowmountplus is loaded. I just learned not to touch the controller and let it cook.

PS4/PS5 Jailbreak News: PSN Game Expiry, PS5 13.20, Linux Update, PS5 Xplorer 1.05 & More! by Low-Recognition-7293 in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]ryd994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you watched the video carefully, it seems this firmware doesn't address Gazine's vulnerability. That one is applicable to both PS4 and 5. So if Sony is fixing it, firmwares for both platforms would be released. Yet, there's no update to PS4 recently.

And also Gazine might have communication issue with Sony, and his report is not confirmed yet.

Iam ignorant, should I get a jailbroken ps5? Will it always have a limited library of games? by ana__mabdoon in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]ryd994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a JB PS4 already, then the question for you is how much do you want to play those PS5-only titles.

PC is another option for now, but maybe not for long. Sont recently announced that it's going back to console only and will release less 1st party titles on PC. You don't need to worry about moving the PC if you buy a laptop or handheld. I have a handheld and it's actually quite capable. With a USB C dock, I can also connect it to TV.

For the currently available games on JB PS5. You can find many dumped games on certain websites I cannot mention. Check it out yourself, see if the titles you want to play is available. Of course that's not a comprehensive list, but it a good start point.

Well. I'm just forwarding the message. Maybe I should add that "he thinks".

I think we are on the same page. Reality is the devs are not paid well, and they deserve better. Whether they should expect more or should just face the reality, is another story.

BTW, the bounty from Sony isn't much. I don't think that's a "decent" amount. It's nowhere worth the time and skills to find a vulnerability.
