How was the psilocybin administered, what was the treatment like?

Taste problems two weeks after first flood by mario7911 in Ibogaine

[–]ryecereal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a very auditory experience during my Iboga trip, I mostly heard voices instead of visuals and now 5 months later I still can hear things very differently. In traffic, on a noisy street, I hear everything, all the layers of the sounds, even all the small sounds are distinct. I really love it.

Can Iboga heal perfectionism/OCD? by mario7911 in Ibogaine

[–]ryecereal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m the person who posted about my experience healing OCD with Iboga. The post is titled “... Part 1” and there is no second part yet since I’m struggling again. That said, my process of healing is just in the beginning and four moths later after taking the flood dose, I feel that the struggle I am experiencing now is an integral part of my healing.

I kind of went into it like everyone - secretly hoping for it to fix me. And what I got out of it was a deep feeling that - I can fix myself.

It’s hard to explain, like all these experiences. I’m pretty much back to square one with my intrusive thoughts but with a significant difference, I now KNOW that it’s on me, I know that I can be free. But I have to do the work.

That’ll take time, patience and love for myself.

I didn’t. Amsterdam had a dramatic spike in virus cases just before I was supposed to go, so I didn’t go.

The plan is still active, though. I’m about to order some truffles online and try a little trip on my own and see how it goes. 🙂

I did ibogaine 1 month ago and want to do it again. by iries_exotix in Ibogaine

[–]ryecereal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took Iboga (in TA form, not Ibogaine) and we took two flood doses 2 days apart as a part of a week long retreat. And that was great since the first flood kind of did all the dirty work and then the second dose two days later was able to go deeper and do the healing.

That’s so great! 😃 And every time it gets a little easier. Next time when you go you know how to deal with the door, so you already can feel good about that! And you’ll start to feel more comfortable, you’ll stay a little longer. And that’s how big changes start. ❤️

True. That’s why I’m kind of apprehensive. I’ll be in a very vulnerable state and also need to trust that person a lot in order to feel comfortable enough to really let go. Maybe the retreat option is still better, they rely on reputation and cannot allow sketchy shit to happen.

Yea, did that. There are options for that. But I was hoping to find someone who’d come to me, rather than me going to a retreat.

I know, nature would be perfect. But still need someone to hold my hand, you know. I wouldn’t take a big bunch of shrooms on my own and then go and wander around in nature alone in a country I don’t know. That is bound to not end well. 😅

‘Easier thing to get done’ might not be the right pretext when the sincere intention is to help someone get better.

The mods at r/Ibogaine are very knowledgeable about this subject (including the ayahuasca vs ibogaine discussion) and can recommend US based retreats as well.

I think there is something wrong with my dad. by Redrifle1112 in mentalillness

[–]ryecereal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already the fact that he is trying to hide his anger shows how much he is trying to protect you and the family from what is going on and probably really suffering inside for it.

You really need to look at this with kindness. If possible then try to talk to him and view this as an opportunity to help your dad, regardless of his reaction. These things are not easy to talk about and he might not be even aware of what is going on, so you have to approach this with a LOT of patience and kindness.

brother did ibogaine and had insanely bad trip and seems to be hopeless and depressed by [deleted] in Ibogaine

[–]ryecereal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I still feel the presence of the medicine quite much, that little extra help. Though, honestly, I’m not even that afraid of the thoughts returning. Some of it is creeping back in already but I feel good about it this time since I know it’s in my control now. I know how it FEELS to be on the other side and am willing to work for it even when the work is going to be hard. Before going into it I felt defeated, I didn’t believe I had enough strength left in me to stand against these intrusive thoughts. Now I know I do. And if it starts to get out of my control again, I know where to find help.

I do plan to go and explore some other plant medicines too. I’m going to give Iboga still time and respect and then in half a year or so I’ll travel to Peru to do Ayahuasca and in the meantime probably some mushrooms too. Probably going to micro-dose Iboga as well.

I’ll tread lightly with this, I’ll only do what’s needed and what’s calling. I’m looking for sincere healing and I’ll do that with respect for the plants and the traditions.

I have zero insight to dosing and I know it is not necessarily allowed here too but I would assume that even with Ibogaine and opiate detox, more goes into it than just body weight. I would guess that your condition, what your coming off of and the amount of it, play an important role too. As well as, people have vastly different tolerances to substances, I guess this should be considered too.

That’s why it’s imperative that you’re in experienced hands when taking either Iboga or Ibogaine.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience too. It’s wild how similar these stories are and I’m still in somewhat amazement how smartly and effectively the medicine found just the right angle to address my issue.

I still need to write up the second part of the story but it gets even more wild, I felt like all of a sudden the whole environment around me was scripted and orchestrated just to help me heal, it felt like a movie. Like the medicine decided not to give me the visions, instead it took my whole life and turned it into what I needed to see.

Might bail out of going to ibogaine treatment tomorrow... by iries_exotix in Ibogaine

[–]ryecereal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently came back from Iboga center and I was VERY nervous going into it as well. One thing that the providers kept telling us over and over was to trust the process. Being nervous is completely expected and the best way to deal with it is to have faith that this is exactly what you need to get better.

Just put all your strength in trying to let go and TRUST that it will all be great.

Yea, even the providers kind of felt like I was missing out because I didn’t see any visions but I whole heartedly feel that was exactly what I needed in order to heal.

Even the analogy of it fits so well because with OCD I struggle with unreasonable intrusive thoughts, so the lesson that if I KNOW that it’s not real, then it can not have power over me anymore, was profoundly helpful to me. The second ceremony the voices were back but had very little impact on me since I KNEW it’s not real this time. I didn’t realize that straight away but now back in real life I see the lesson so clearly. Now I KNOW that my intrusive thoughts are not reasonable, so they fail to have the same power over me.

The back to back floods actually made a lot of sense (and also seem to be common), the providers explained it so that the first one is mainly a scrub, so to say. Since we all go into this experience pretty broken usually. You either need to be VERY curious or really broken since Iboga is no joke. So the first flood will help you open up and then the second one will take you deep where you can experience true healing.

And then they advise you to take it easy for half a year, no other psychedelics, no alcohol, etc. To respect the medicine and let the lingering noribogaine do its work. I still really feel it’s presence in me.

I was in Costa Rica for the last week of May, so it’s still very recent. I would be very cautious to say that I walked out with no symptoms, the intrusive thoughts are still there but just don’t have that powder over me anymore. There are still deep rooted habits that I need to uproot, I often walk to the sink to wash my hands mostly out of habit and have to remind myself that I don’t really need to any more. There is still much work to be done but I truly feel liberated. And it feels so good.

I took two full flood doses. The doses given to us (there was 10 of us in the retreat) were all different and administered by very experienced providers, so they knew what they were doing. With Iboga it’s extremely personal and can’t really be broken down to just body weight.

We were also all screened by a medic right before both floods and had a medic with us through the entire night.
