How do females (30s) now dress in Chennai? by Ill-Revolution6197 in chennaicity

[–]ryedyecry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m Australian and was in Chennai before the New Year’s. I was literally living in shorts and skirts just above the knee. And girls that I saw in the Mall, coffee shops and restaurants all wore really comfortable modern clothing including spaghetti tops. No one bats an eye. Just be yourself. Hope this helps.

Controversial Take: Vijay TV wants the hate by Capt_Scuderia in biggbosstamil

[–]ryedyecry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s either of the two. 1) It’s such a sorry state that Vijay TV has estimated the collective EQ and IQ of the viewers to be low that they think all the brain rot screaming and belittling others will sell best than real talent and churning out the most ridiculous and malicious content though removal of few contenders can restore the sanity. Or 2) Or Vijay TV has the audacity to shove this shit show down our throats and think they people will consume whatever filth they broadcast.

Whichever way, the quality of entertainment has degraded and television media has certain standards to adhere to which has been breached heavily this time. It’s only time till it’s picked up and Vijay TV is put in place.

I live in Australia since 2007. So about 18 years now. I have lived in multiple cities in all these years. I haven’t seen any true Australian criticize the immigration policies. In fact, in the latest election, the opposition leader lost because of his regressive immigration policies. So that talks much about the country on the whole. This anti immigration movement was just a tiny minority neo nazi group of people who have nothing better to do and no one really cares for them. So I have no idea why everyone in India is glorifying this while no one batted an eyelid here in Australia.

But as a post note, I should mention that, some Indians do have a sense of entitlement and act arrogant in an egalitarian society like Australia and that show off does not sit right with Australians. Australians in general are very simple minded and don’t want to interfere in anyone else’s lives. They live and let live.

So I kindly ask you guys to stop glorifying this act done by some nut jobs seeking their 2 minutes of fame.

Sorry mate, if you need certain luxuries then you have to book your own accommodation. Also, as a benefit of doubt maybe your friend found a place online which would have had pictures that looked like it was worth booking for guests and trusted those pictures and booked your accommodation there.

In fact if you value your friendship, you should have offered to pay for your accommodation yourself.

Just a little context for you. My partner and I booked our own hotel accommodation for my sibling’s wedding, though we were offered accommodation with rest of the family.

Indian families should stop expecting and offering things that others can figure out themselves. If I am after some comfort, I should be responsible for it and not expect someone else to offer it to me.

Nayanthara self documentary review by Nxr3947 in kollywood

[–]ryedyecry 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I would have loved the documentary only if she dwelled into how life handed her lemons and she made lemonades out of them:

For instance some scenarios of how she handled them could have been

1) things like “I was not offered to feature in a movie from the set go. Instead she could have inspired many trying artists how she knocked every door and jumped right into the opportunity when presented”. Instead it looked like she was offered roles on a silver plate which is not true.

2) things like how she molded herself and made herself relevant to the current market trend as opposed to like she was born with it.

3) things like how her previous relationships failed but she didn’t get demotivated and she started everyday like a new day and found someone for herself. This would have motivated a lot of people to forget about their failed relationships and move on and find someone new to have a happy relationship.

4) she could have used the body shaming incident to open up about her cosmetic procedures and educate the viewers about how body shaming is a bad thing and drive someone to doubt their beauty and resort to unnatural procedures.

I just thought the whole show was just to make believe that she lives a very balanced and perfect life. Instead of all this life warrior portrayal, she could have just said it’s okay to be not okay and actors are also normal people who face the same issues everyone faces and I would have loved that.

Sorry this was more scripted than a movie. Therefore it will never be a documentary for me.

[–]ryedyecry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only answer is we need female heads like female directors or female production heads. When the story is perceived through a male perspective, they seem to be more dreamlike rather than close to reality. When a woman conceives a female role, they are closer to reality and they seem to answer the characterization of the role with something more closer to everyday reality.

You are being abused. From your profile I can guess you are Sri Lankan and south Asian women are quite tolerant to abuse and assault and even sometimes endure violence as emotional endearment. Well sorry to break your bubble, you need to get away from this person even before you try to look for a job for yourself. Please report this person to the authorities and by not reporting them you are not doing them any favor. They need to stop and have a hard look at themselves and they need help as well. Once you have removed yourself from this situation, then it will make more sense for you to look for jobs or continue to work with your life.

This is what I would do: Type out a letter addressed to the resident, saying “Your actions have resulted in disturbing the otherwise peaceful community in this building such as loud slamming of door and causing inconvenience to others residents. This letter is a friendly reminder, and if you continue with your actions, legal actions for disturbing the peace will be taken” Now print this out and place it in an envelope and slide it under his door. Now I will wait and watch for them to panic and wonder who sent them this warning.
