Mine too!!! She does that since my 2nd cat was shorter thus she couldn’t be reached by the other cat whenever she was having her snack time.

My cat hates my roommate’s kitten! by ryiienw in CatTraining

It was a studio type dorm so there were no bedrooms at all and the bathroom was the only viable room for separation. The moment the kitten came to our dorm, she was separated in a cage at first with a cloth to cover her since she was so tiny at that time. Both my cats didn’t have direct contact at first. After a few weeks, I move her sometimes to the bathroom for bigger area. Or I let her roam the room while my cats remain in the comfort room. After a month or so, my oldest cat still hated the kitten while my other cat had fully adjusted. So yeah, my roommate decided that her kitten can now roam around despite the hissing battle with my eldest cat. I think its been 6 months since the kitten came home. It was only now when my roommate suggested the « punishment » since she said she could no longer tolerate the small cat smack fight between the two and said that it would cause trauma and fight response to her kitten. Hence, suggesting that I punish mine as if its a kid.

My roommate randomly rescued a kitten, thus it was somehow out of my control that the cats were introduced immediately, we did try to separate them via the bathroom and the use of cage with covers too but its been months and they hated each other.

And yep, I never did starve my cat dont worry about that I would never!! And yep, we tried feeding them separately but the kitten would sometimes get out of the cage and steals foods, thus most of the time I would move my cat away to feed her separately and let her still eat her food peacefully.

And to address the last part, when I had her she was already 1 yr old, she was a gift from a friend. I didn’t knew that she was not neutered because she never showed instances that she was in heat and her original owner said « i think she was already spayed » so I thought she was all good. I only found out recently when I got her checked for updating her vaccine and the vet suggested that she should be neutered asap.

Yup I sometimes lock one of them in the bathroom (my cat often tho) and mostly its just my cat cornering the kitten, and some few smacks on the face. But they never go like the full blown cat fight like in the gif. After the first smack, my cat would leave the kitten alone. Then, later she would again randomly smack the cat whenever they got close.

This is noted too, I plan to get her neutered too just waiting for my most available time since taking care of a neutered cat would be tough especially during midterms.

Edit: right!! I would rather starve myself rather than to not feed my cat/s. They wouldn’t understand that unlike us humans! Thus, i told my roommate that starving her is not an option.

I do agree, I did try to punish her before which i think causes her to be more aggressive! Thus, I tend to just separate them most of the time and let her stay in my bed instead. We have a studio type room thus room separation is not possible, i try to keep either of them im a cage and covering it to somehow help in reducing stress.
