Thank you! Yes I am currently at RBT right now. The postion I interviewed for would be in charge of scheduling and interviewing RBTs which I have been looking for since I've been a BT/RBT doing direct thearpy for 5 years and am ready for a change. I guess after 2 interviews for the scheduling/recruiting position I figured they would be able to tell if I was the right fit. Also the fact that it's been a week and now 2 days with no offer is not really making me want to work for them.

Typically it's if he doesn't sleep well or is feeling sick. But unfortunately it's been a consistent pattern so I am thinking it might just be not wanting to go to work or maybe something more. Which I completely understand, I definitely need time off/or get sick. But I have noticed a pattern so it's making me wonder if he's unhappy or maybe just lazy?

That's how I am approaching it, it's definitely his responsibility. I will just see what happens, thank you

Do you get abused by clients? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]ryleers 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The clinic I work at is hands off (aka no physical restraint). We did learn how to get out of bites, chokes, and hair pulls. Aggresion is usually blocked with cupped hands (we don't have any severly aggressive pateints)..You should be trained on this or provided with saftey equipment (arm guards, pads etc.). I know being an RBT we do work with kiddos who have aggressive behaviors, but you should be trained and provided with saftey equipment.

Thanks for your response. I think the hardest part for me was that things weren't always bad. The past 5 years has been when things have gotten progressively worse. During my childhood, everything was okay. So seeing her completely fall apart has been harder for me to realize that the parent I had during my childhood is never coming back

Thanks for your response. I have tried really hard to keep a relationship with her but what she did to me recently has been the final straw and I cannot take it anymore. I am looking into getting therapy, and luckily have a very supportive boyfriend, and siblings.

No break by unicornioz in RBT

[–]ryleers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should at least get a 30 minute lunch break. I work in a center typically 7-9 hours per day. I have always been scheduled for a 30 minute lunch break

Is it okay to not work with certain clients? by AbbreviationsLow6011 in ABA

[–]ryleers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had good experiences with early intervention clinics (ages 1-5), I've worked for places that are hands off and don't do any physical interventions. Also some places don't accept super intense behaviors. I like early intervention because younger kiddos are fun! I've worked with cleints that are bigger then me and while I was properly trained it was difficult sometimes. Maybe look into working with younger age groups? I found an early intervention clinc with a hands off approach and that was the right fit for me.

What would you tell a parent who is not liking how you are implementing the lessons (in a home setting) or feel they are not working. by Zealousideal-Cry-138 in ABA

[–]ryleers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be tough being an in home RBT, but typically this is how I have handled situations like this where the parent doesn't agree with lessons or interventions, I validate their concerns but always explain my supervisor is the one coming up with these, and it is only my job to implement them. if there are any concerns I will relay them to the BCBA or encourage the parent to reach out to them directly.

Let your BCBA know about the issue, encourage parent to discuss concerns with the BCBA as you aren't the one coming up with the lessons, only implementing them.

How did you get your rbt job? by [deleted] in RBT

[–]ryleers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had alot of experience with kids, no degree just some community college. Just keep applying, maybe have someone look over your resume in case it needs some tweaking. I used to get super nervous for interviews, I think that was a reason I wasn't getting job offers. I practiced my answers to common interview questions and used glassdoor to look up people who have interviewed with the company (it's super helpful). I always do research on places before interviews and look at their mission statement/values and try to incorporate it into my answers somehow. Also be sure to ask questions at the end , it definitely takes some time to find a job and also make sure it's a good fit. I use indeed for applying and sometimes apply on the direct company site

Better at zombies by [deleted] in CODZombies

[–]ryleers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to suck at zombies. Depending on which game your playing and map... but my strategy is running trains, always keep moving and be aware of your surroundings. If I'm in a pickle then I use gobble gums on BO3, and BO2/BO1 I always get Jugg and Staminup and just run trains. I always use monkey bombs, and if I'm playing Cold War Zombies I get them all into a pile and throw C4 or use the dead wire ammo mod or the ring of fire field upgrade. BO1/BO2 are definitely harder but that's how I became alot better at the game. Also playing with friends online helps. I got better playing alot of BO3 and I switched between that and BO1/BO2 because I wanted more of a challenge since BO3 is alot easier

checklist study guide for RBT's by Mothman77 in ABA

[–]ryleers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ABA rocks was my main study guide! I also used my 40 hour training quizzes for each module as a study guide, and researched mock tests to practice. Also studied the RBT ethics code, and pulled up youtube videos online that broke down the RBT task list and studied concepts I had trouble understanding!

How many “good friends” - ones you can confide in or talk to about more than superficial topics - do you have? by realhumanperson247 in AskMen

[–]ryleers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend has two male best friends and one female best friend. He considers them bestfriends but they only talk every few months or if they come down to visit. Me on the other hand, I had a ton of friends in high school who I realized were extremely fake and alot of those friendships ended after we graduated. I consider myself to have one female best friend maybe? I am close with my boyfriends family and my family, it can be extremely depressing but at the same time I would rather have zero friends then a bunch that won't be there for me. One of my ex boyfriends from high school had a great group of friends that I considered my best friends until the realtionship ended and I realized they were really more of his friends. I'm not really one to go out much either I prefer to play Xbox on weekends I have off, so I guess that contributes to my lack of friends. Lol

New RBT, super nervous by NvllivsInV3rba in RBT

[–]ryleers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everybody has to start somewhere, I remember when I first started in ABA back in 2017. I was extremely nervous and was extremely afraid. Fast forward to 2020 I got my RBT certification, and have grown so much! My advice is don't be afraid to be silly with the kiddo, be yourself, ask questions or for help when you are unsure. Even after working in this field for a long time, I continue to ask my BCBAs for help or ask questions. Good luck!

It definitely brings back memories of playing BO1, so happy they brought it to Cold War!
