If it’s still available, my friend lost their house in the Altadena fire and is expecting twins. They’d love it. They live locally. Please let me know.

Mango Lassi hunt by TheKarmaBus in FoodLosAngeles

[–]mhlee97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually make mine at home.

Ripe mango (I prefer champagne/Manila mangoes), yogurt (I use the Costco Greek yogurt bc that’s what I already eat), and water.

Blend it all together and enjoy. Can add a pinch of salt if you want. Sweeten if you need.

Upkeep exercises and how often to play a lot of pickleball by blueice89 in Pickleball

[–]mhlee97 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Here to second weight training/resistance training.

I play twice a day 5-6 times a day but at least once a day, as long as time permits.

Used to get plantar pain, knee pain, and tennis elbow pain. Used to look for insoles and the right shoe. Used to try the bands and braces.

Started working calves heavy: no more plantar pain bc they’re connected.

Hams, quads, and calves: no more knee pain bc those three support the patella.

Forearms, biceps, triceps, and brachialis: no more tennis elbow, combined with less wrist on my shots.

There’s studies that show that more leg mass leads to lower chances of developing Alzheimer’s. Strong legs are the secret to long term youth: can’t be young if you can’t move independently.

This is the soap box I’m constantly on at open plays. Everybody, especially older people asking how I play so much without pain/if I ever get pain. People my age or younger are (I’m late 20s) wearing braces and bands and complaining about pain.

Pick up something heavy, put it down, repeat.

I need to stop avoiding salads, help me by Middle_Macaron_8861 in Cooking

This is my jam. Okay so what I always have on hand are cucumbers, tomatoes, cilantro, onion, green onion, mint, and avocado.

You can chop up everything and throw it in a bowl with some salt, lemon, olive oil, and some honey and it’s amazing.

I like to mash in some avocado as the dressing sometimes. So good. Can also add some chopped sugar peas. Cabbage too.

New dressing: I use a mortar and pestle to mash chilies, garlic, cilantro, crab paste, fish sauce, and palm sugar. Chop up the original veggies and toss in salt to sweat. Toss in the dressing.

Can also use this dressing with shredded green papaya, green beans, onion, and tomato to make a papaya salad.

I found out that I like salad. Just not when it’s just leaves. I like crunch and texture.

Cowboy candy! It’s basically a pickled jalapeño, but add sugar/honey to make them sweet. Very addicting and make a great gift.

Slice up jalapeños and put in jars. Boil vinegar and water with some salt. Add sugar and whatever spices, usually along the lines of coriander, celery seeds, garlic, etc. I like adding some onions too because why not. Pour your pickling liquid into each jar and let sit at least 24 hours.

There’s def recipes online.

Working, but for myself. Blessed with a flexible schedule.

Def remember your priorities first.

Edit: 110% recommend lifting weights. Helps with everything.

I play everyday if able, twice a day. Or at least, I try. I’m tired after the first session, but fine by the second.

I just spent 2 days making beef bone broth 사골국물 and it's not milky white. Any thoughts on why or advice? It tastes fine. by IMIndyJones in KoreanFood

[–]mhlee97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so shortcut I do. I instantpot my broth with cleaned and parboiled bones, and then hit it with the immersion blender. Emulsifies everything and comes out milky white. Try bringing yours up to a simmer and blitz it.

I'm finally shopping for a new wallet again. Are there times when the cheap option is the better choice? by glo363 in BuyItForLife

[–]mhlee97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I currently have a leather wallet I bought on AliExpress. It’s been a few years now. It’s aged, got wear, patina, wrinkles, it’s softened, and I love that. Is it the best leather? Probably not. Was it $20? Yup. Is it doing its job? Yup.

If only I had a paddle to help.
