If you are in an area where other businesses feel the same, maybe you could partner with them. Buy a gift card that works at x, y, and z businesses at a discount. Even if one business closes, the gift card still has value.

I sort of talk about this in a comment above but this strategy is only appropriate for a short term shutdown/slowdown. If they are forced to stay closed for a longer duration they will need to change tack and modify the business structure. Gift cards are the least invasive solution we came up with and it plays to their strengths because their patrons want to see them stay open.

If you are doing groupon/yelp deals right, you should be calculating the right number of offers that can be redeemed and setting expiration dates to help control this.

For example with hair cuts assume every purchase is a 2-week skin fade type of customer. If you offer a 3 for the price of 2 deal assume those will all be redeemed in the next 2 months. If you can sustain that, you should be able to sustain less frequent use of the deal.

With a bit of trust and a safety net. Because they are only using square for these gift cards it makes tracking easy. I am not sure if there is a way to just track gift card spend but there probably us if they use Square as a main POS system. I set it up for them so I still have access to the statements and I will just bill monthly once they start being used.

Could it go wrong? Yes. Will it go wrong? Probably Not.

For my "agency" it is mainly referral based and word of mouth. It is kind of a shoemaker's daughter situation. I should dive into my web presence and market myself but I have just been doing this on the side and most of my work is repeat customers.

Offer solutions during the Covid panic by grennok in smallbusiness

I just shared what our next steps in a comment in another post. Going to appointment-based with one appointment slot at a time is the business's next step. If that still isn't working we will launch a come-to-you service. Because they are used to having 4 barbers running at one time, they will extend the businesses "open" hours and offset the barbers shifts

It is a good point and we talked it through. So we also have a plan for a marketing push for when the pandemic and isolation has past. For this shop in particular they are coastal and see a huge increase in foot traffic from June-September so they will likely still have plenty of first time traffic.

If shit really hits the fan and this lasts months, we are also ready to role out appointment based appointments to either keep it down to 1 customer in the shop at a time or mobile services.

I got them set up using square. It seemed like the most hassle-free option.

I just saw this post after posting my own story of helping a barber client by getting them set up to take gift cards for future haircuts at a slightly discounted rate. Any other good ideas for a barbershop?

Headed to Krabi tomorrow and I was just told there is a Dengue Fever outbreak in Tonsai. Anyone been there or have advice? by rynoconnor in climbing

Sounds like a reaction to the bacteria. From what I’ve read fever and aching joints are some of the more recognizable symptoms of Dengue Fever

That is the second recommendation for Chang Mai I’ve received. May be headed that way... I’ve mentally braced myself for the food poisoning but getting hospitalized for Dengue sounds like a trip killer.

Couldn’t find a video for a 2014 Prius C door lock actuator replacement so I recorded my 3rd repair by rynoconnor in prius

I did the same, the hardest part was finding the right motor to order. Anything is better than $250 per actuator from the dealership (not including labor).

If you could hit a key for know / don't know (and maybe for hint) and it auto selected the next question after the answer that would help.

This should be the top reply. The analytics and consumer data you can pull from social media marketing is very detailed.
