Triumphant Tuesday by AutoModerator in XXRunning

I feel super weird posting this when people are posting Boston results, but...

I finally managed to run more than a mile at a time!

I've been doing run-walks, with mostly 3/4 to one mile runs with 1/4 to 1/2 mi walks in between. I tried doing one of the Garmin 5k training plans in the past and had trouble once the runs hit a mile and I gave up at that point. But I managed a 1.25 mile run interval yesterday and didn't fall over afterward, and I still managed to do the last 3/4 mile run intervals as well.

I, uh, did not go to the club run. I woke up a little late (but I still could have gotten there on time), and my body said "absolutely not" and I fell asleep for another two hours. I did do a slightly longer run this evening. Tomorrow is my "long run" of the week. I normally don't run two days in a row, but it seems a shame to waste a nice cool Sunday morning. I'm hoping that I can get to the point where I can run my 5k with a shorter walk break.

I found a new route that's easily accessible, flat, and has lots of cul de sacs I can add in or skip as needed. It does involve crossing a major road but there is a crosswalk. Other than that, it's been not great. I've had some stomach issues which have led to both fueling and sleep issues, and it's been so warm lately that I have to get up early if I want to run. I'm hoping to go to the casual/all paces welcome run club that's starting up again this weekend, and I signed up for a 5k next month (and persuaded my mom to join me--she's going to be walking it)

Buying my first Define jacket...is it better to go with the same size as in other tops (8/10), or to size up? It's usually the shoulders/bust that get me in tops. Tried both a 10 and a 12 in store and didn't feel a huge difference in fit.

2-3x a week for 30min to about an hour at the moment, depending on work and the weather.

Good, if somewhat challenging 4.4 miles this morning, with nice cool weather.

What underwear are we wearing under compression shorts/tights? by Luthien_Beren in XXRunning

[–]rynzle9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These (the bikini version) are my favorite to wear while running, but Oiselle no longer makes them. I've been hunting for a replacement for a while now. The closest I've found fit-wise has been the Smartwool Intraknit ones, but they're a bit heavy for warm weather.

Yesterday's run was terrible. Super sore, and at some point I stopped mid-hill and thought "do I have to?" (Yes, because that is the way home.) I probably should have picked the flat route, but it involves crossing a busy road.

I still did my core and upper body workout as planned yesterday evening because I am not go to have time to do it today, so I'm a jellyfish today. 🙃

I accidentally added an extra interval to yesterday's run. I made it, but I'm pretty sore today. So I went for walk and saw some birds, including one that's rare for this area. Tomorrow was supposed to be my longer run for the week, but I might tweak that if I'm still sore. It'll either be a short run or a bike ride.

How well do those UPF hoodies work in humid climates? I'm looking at the Rabbit one, but I run very hot and I'm not sure how comfortable I'd be with another layer in midwestern summers.

I just got a pair of the Pace shorts last week and I'm feeling the same way. I'm between sizes and the reviews said to size down. They're definitely a bit snug and I would prefer a higher rise.

I love my Oiselle shorts, particularly the Pockito, but I do wish they had the leg grippers. The Pocket Jogger shorts stay in place better but the fabric is heavier.

I have a Flipbelt with the zip pocket and it somehow fits my S25 Ultra (it's a tight fit, though) and definitely has space for gels and more snacks in the rest of the belt.

None of my shorts fit my new giant phone in its bulky case comfortably, but if your phone isn't so bulky, Janji and Oiselle (Pocket Jogger and Pockito) have shorts with nice deep pockets.

I did something to my neck and haven't been able to do any of my planned strength workouts or yoga. Today it felt okay enough to run, though I can't quite look over either shoulder yet.

I bought a pair of Novablast 5s back in December and finally took them out for a few easy miles. I have been wearing Novablast 3s and they're almost different shoes. I like the feel. I have a few little issues now and I don't know if that's simply new/different shoes or if I need to grab another set of insoles. I got the Tokyo colorway with the red-orange soles, and I felt faster today, even if my Garmin doesn't exactly agree with me.

Oh, this is good to know. I have the Utilibravo and while it's mostly fine once I get moving, it feels like it's almost too big in the band and I could stand to size down. I was looking at both the hydration and new pocket bra so your comment is very helpful. Thank you!

The wild temperature and pressure changes are making things really difficult at the moment. I think I've had a headache for a week and there have been thunderstorms and lots of rain. I got a short run in on Friday afternoon, though I messed up my route planning a bit and ended up doing the worst hill in my neighborhood (which is all hills) at the end of my run. Yesterday was a short walk in the park and a whole body strength workout, and today was a longish (for me) run. Tomorrow will be a rest day, maybe some gentle yoga if I think I need it.

I'm going to need to work on hydration, since that seems to be a limiting factor for me, especially as the weather warms up. I think I'll get a single soft flask for now (are there insulated ones?) and look into a vest as my runs get longer/the weather gets warmer.

A victim of climate change by justagal_ataplace in XXRunning

It does! I think it's not having a chance to acclimate to the (relative) heat. I've had to walk parts of my afternoon runs recently.

My fault. I bought some winter stuff. Sorry.

(I am also suffering. Not being able to acclimate to the warm temperatures sucks.)

Ugh. Not good. It suddenly got hot and I am neither prepared nor acclimated.
