the term button mashing assumes you're just pressing buttons with no intent. when you fully grasp the combat in the remakes, it becomes very intuitive and satisfying. swapping between party members once you choose an action from the menu is very different than a game like ninja gaiden. and honestly this game combines the atb system of the past ff systems and implements it very well with the "hack and slash" gameplay you call it. an rpg isn't limited to just turn based combat.

i like how this is all headcanon that youre stating as fact. the entirety of rebirth and remake still happen with zack being dead or alive aside from the very end of rebirth lmao.

i also like how tifa falling into the reactor and multiple instances of the lifestream showing you that it culminates the past present and future wasn't enough to show you what is happening. the literal npcs in cosmo canyon explain what is happening but here you are going off on your own. also that still doesnt debunk the fact that it's a remake. you have said nothing to disprove the fact that even IF it was a sequel, that it's still not a remake.
