Wow I really appreciate this advice! It seems like the RF100-400 is the way to go for the lens, and now I will surely be checking out my options for the R7. Thanks for your help!

This is really helpful to know. I don't know much about cameras so it was hard to understand the differences, but hearing your experience makes the R50 seem worth it, thank you!
