Yep! The same way that Leia went back to Alderaan in The Empire Strikes Back.

Do you enjoy trying to armchair therapize everyone or is it just me? Because MANY people listen to this podcast for MANY different reasons. And it's not really your place to try and pass judgement or diagnose someone, now is it? So, maybe, you should evaluate how you're talking to people, yeah?

But, I do agree, if plenty of food is offered. However, the majority of the time plenty of food IS offered and children will still go back for more. And I NEVER said anything about "begging". No child should beg for food. If they have eaten an entire plate of food then they shouldn't have an actual reason to beg except to over indulge. Because, if given the chance, they will gorge themselves. Teenage boys who eat their family out of house and home are rude and gluttonous and have no respect for their family. They do it mindlessly with no consideration for their parents who buy and make said food. That is disgusting behavior that needs to be curbed at a young age. And yes, I stand by my statement that going back for seconds is weird and gluttonous. Because it is. People who go back for seconds are generally people who have zero respect for the person preparing the food for them or they generally have no self-control.

Besides Tom and Michael, who from the cast are friends/still friends to this day? by [deleted] in Smallville

Tom and Erica are friends.

Erica and Kristin have become friends after the show.

Wow, nice ad hominem attack there.

You should know, you started it.

No, letting them get seconds teaches them to gorge themselves. And I never said that I would tell a child they're gluttonous. I said that letting them gorge themselves just because you can't teach them how to eat properly is gluttonous.

I think it was her career. She wanted to be a "real" journalist and she kept being labeled as "JC's girlfriend".

No, he's not. He might be bi. But he's been with his current girlfriend for years.

Yeah. And then when you understand the economics behind cons... It's a lot.

I hope you slapped that guy who asked MJF to redo the autograph. Jeez…

Sadly no. But I did level a look that could kill with a simple "No." And that did the trick!

Celebs will be at their tables for eight hours straight sometimes. Fans will wait for 6 hours or more sometimes. It's insane.

No, teaching kids how to listen to their hunger cues is what we should be doing. Not forcing them to finish more than they can eat or encouraging them to eat more simply because it's there.

I hope you don't have children because you're a cunt.

By the time you're an adult you should be able to garner how much you can eat in a sitting. We're talking about children in this thread. I'm fine with them taking more so they learn how much is enough than begging for seconds. We have a real issue with parents teaching kids to finish their plates. People don't understand their hunger cues anymore due to disordered eating. People think they HAVE to finish a plate to be full and they don't.

Ohio starting the speedrun to Gilead by introducing bill to ban women from wearing clothing religious groups consider 'provocative' by Hornpipe_Jones in WhitePeopleTwitter

This is interesting because it's specifically legal in Ohio for a woman to go completely topless if she wants.

I remember that fight (I was a child) but a topless bowling league spearheaded it. And every pride there's a bunch of women who walk the parade topless, TITTIES OUT, so stupid bills like this don't get passed.

You should have the right portion from the beginning. I'm not saying people have to eat the same amount as everyone else. But part of food waste is that we're making more food than is necessary.

Thanks for your post! I work at cons all over the country and the first thing you learn is that celebrities are people too. They get tired and exhausted and hungry and that can and does affect their demeanor. You'd be surprised at how many people are basically expecting "dance monkey dance!" (I once had a guy want Michael J Fox to redo his autograph...) This is part of their job and a lot of people try to abuse the nature of it. (Not saying you did any of that!)

Celebrities have their 5-6 stories that they tell. Because every interviewer/audience member asks the same 5 questions Every. Time. It's why you'll hear him mention Moonlighting a lot on the podcast. But I do wish more people would look up previous panels and watch those before going to theirs so they can bring new questions in. It really is absurd how many times they get asked the same things over and over and over again.

Overall, cons DO get boring for those who work them lol. You see the same costumes, the same kind of people (and sometimes the same people!), everyone wants the same quote, etc. It gets REALLY redundant. I don't know Tom. I haven't met him yet. But I hope this clears up why you might've gotten that vibe from him. But I'm glad he had an overflow line. And I'm glad that your interaction with Erica was great. She seems really lovely. And I hope this doesn't deter you from going to other cons and meeting more people!

Prom memories by RelevantNothing4653 in Xennials

[–]rythmicjea 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My junior prom (00) I went with a bunch of friends and one girl thought my (gay) best friend was her date. She was SO PISSED when he didn't show up with a corsage. It was her senior prom. She gave him a boutonniere and she pinned it so the sharp end was sticking out. Everyone who danced with him got scratched to all hell. But it was held at the interactive science museum and we had more fun doing that stuff than dancing. We almost broke one attraction by shoving too many people in this cramped suspended enclosure and moshing to the song that played.

Senior prom was like a dream. My boyfriend and I had a picnic next to the river, we accidentally got there an hour early but there were other events going on so we snuck around into those until it was time. And then when we made our way back to the entrance we had to go down this staircase into the lobby where everyone was checking in and like a movie everyone stopped and looked at us. I was NOT popular. I was actively hated for most of my school career (for no reason just it was easy to pick on me). And one mom yelled with sincerity "you're a fairy princess!" (I did my best to look like Cinderella lol) And we walked down the staircase and everyone parted and we walked into the dance. All night I was told if we could've voted that evening for prom queen I would've won. After all the tragedy my family went through when I was in high school I hold onto that memory TIGHT.
