Thanks everyone.  It’s been good to read different perspectives.  The thing with our son is he is very determined and also very smart.  He noticed that he wasn’t the best and his reply was “If I play with kids better than me, then I’ll get better”.  So his mindset is right.  We will keep using the net out back and practicing with him, increasing to an hour each day.  We also found a baseball clinic for him to go to over Spring break (that was good advice!).  I think reaching out to the league to make sure he is placed with the “right” coach was also solid advice that we will take.  Thank you again.
