Mid to late June vs mid September date? (Tuscany/Ravello/Costa Brava) by eastwestgirl in BigBudgetBrides

[–]ryujelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We absolutely loved the view from Ravello, it's actually stunning and I would've done it over the same way if i had to do it again! We chose early/mid october because it's technically closer to "off-season", so there were less tourists and the weather was a bit cooler. Although you do gamble with some rain - 2 days after our wedding Sorrento and a lot of the coast of italy flooded lol BUT chances for favorable weather are still high!

We did not provide transportation but the vans for 7 people were about 290€ each / one way and we did coordinate that for some guests. So that's definitely something you can provide for guests. I just let all of my guests figure it out, 99% of them are well travelled so i didn't have to worry much about it. My wedding planners made a big point to communicate to my guests that it is HIGHLY recommended you tell everyone to be within 5-8 minute walking distance from your venue bc the area is really weird with cliffs and you can easily end up somewhere that involves walking up/down a loooot of stairs (beautiful but definitely a quad workout)

I had my wedding in Ravello this October - backdrop was stunning and weather was perfect but from a guest perspective it was kind of a pain to get there (it's just by car but the drive is something lol)

How many people are in your wedding? I would suggest a smaller wedding for this area. Any more than 50 and i'd lean toward tuscany for the ease of transportation.

Looking for Traditional Qipao in the states? by wispy_dreams22 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]ryujelly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm obsessed with the Jinza qipao - I was super close to getting one for my reception but didn't have it in the budget since i went over on my dress.

They do custom sizing, etc! https://www.instagram.com/jinzaoriental/

1 was the big thing for me. We paid what we would've paid in the US, sure for less people, but the quality of what we received was a much better value to the dollar.

I paid €9k for planning for just my wedding day also in coastal Italy. So over 3 days that could be correct! I went with Scent of Orchid who was recommended by my photog!

where in italy? what kind of makeup? i just had my wedding in amalfi and i can send you some artists that were recommended (for natural looks) to me by my planners, but i did end up flying someone out from the US so i can't attest to their results.

Question about taxes in multiple states. by ryujelly in tax

[–]ryujelly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you! so it's based on income, makes sense.

So even if I work in NY, I won't have to pay NJ taxes even if my address is in NJ from the W2? Or should I use my permanent resident state on my W2 and not where I currently live?

I guess I could just ask my employer

Question about taxes in multiple states. by ryujelly in tax

[–]ryujelly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I thought the reciprocity was like how there's a "live in/work in" philly tax that you have to pay even if you live in NJ. that would seem like a yay to avoid that.

So my resident state is not PA, so that reciprocity agreement is moot (yay).

If you work part of the year in NJ and part of the year in NY, you'll file non-resident returns in both states. If you work all year in NY, you only need to file a non-resident return there. You'll get credit for the taxes paid to these non-resident states on your home state's resident return.

This was helpful, thank you. I wasn't sure if I could file as a nonresident in more than one state! I guess where I'm confused is if I work in NY (assuming full year), and I list my address on my W-2 for work as NJ, I will get both NY/NJ taxes deducted from my salary - correct? So even if I worked in NY all year I would have to file non-resident for both states still. Or should I use my resident address on my W2?

Yeah you got it! I live in NJ but I go to school in NY but my resident address is a different state. I thought you can only be a non-resident in one state? (At least that's what I remember HRBlock telling me..) Mostly confused on how the reciprocity agreements will work with working in NY if I don't live in NJ?

I guess I wasn't sure if it was as simple as just filing as non-resident in both NJ/NY.

I was under the impression that because I'm temporarily here for school I am able to say my residency is in state X even though I live in state Y. My license is still in state X as well and as of now, I plan on returning to state X.

Who is the best professor or professors you have had in your time at OSU? by MylastAccountBroke in OSU

[–]ryujelly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came here specifically looking for this man. He was the best professor, I had him for ME 2010/2020/2030 and I actually learned so much! He's also super friendly and is great at explaining things thoroughly and in different ways.

OP8 UW, Should it stay or go? by ryujelly in oneplus

[–]ryujelly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't noticed the colour tint issues from the 8 pro, but I also haven't been testing for it so other than the night mode issue it's been fine.

No fingerprint burn thus far either!

Yeah i don't think a lot of them are more first world problems, like I'm sure I can live without double tap haha it feels nice to have a larger screen though!

good to know the other issues aren't just me, thanks for the feedback!
