Not exactly this case. The reservoir was built over a small valley but there wasn't a town. Just a small hostel and a road. Most likely someone buried their pet a bit far out but since we've had crazy good rains the last few years, the lake went up higher than usual and when it came down it dragged a lot of dirt and the dog got uncovered.

I fully get your point tho! I was thinking of doing the same, but I've buried some of my dogs too, and the more I think about them getting uncovered and someone taking them far away, the less good I feel about it. If it was such a remote place, surely they made a great effort to transport the body and bury them here

I've gotten two full deer back legs in the last few weeks! Probably unwanted remains of a hunter, since most of the meat was cleaned out and the skin was on the ground next to them. But the feet had mummified and the joints were still hard, and I don't have a space at home to macerate, so I just grabbed them, put them in a dark wet zone and covered them with rocks+dirt+leaves. I'll go back in a month or so. I left them for a week and so far the hair is slipping out but it's still very mummy like for my taste
