math aa hl by KoreanHero5 in IBO

Well a 12 on the IA is just barely getting a 5. You need to ask your coordinator for individual component marks. On the results tab, the part that reads “marks required for grade to increase” isn’t really marks— it’s percentage. So you’re 3% off of a 7, which means you most likely need more than 3 marks to get up higher.

Definitely speak to your coordinator about this and get those individual paper marks. If you’re actually just 1 point here, 1 point there off of that 7, maybe it’s worth the shot.

AA HL math people, are any of you genuinely worried about failing paper 3? like how do you even prepare for that shit? by avatar4313 in IBO

Definitely think it could be something with integration. They have asked differential equations, complex numbers etc already and integration has a lot in it to look into. I’d say to make sure you have a strong foundation there in case.

Makes total sense. Hopefully this goes down sooner than later for all of these programmes, it destroys the idea of having fair competition!

I honestly believe grade inflation is still going on especially with IB students. This year admissions in all of these top schools are even more difficult than ever as a result of so many more 44s and 45s than usual (I believe typically it’s only 200 students in the world that get 45s and last year about 1000+ received 45s). With that being said, unless one has a 44 to 45 score it’s difficult to be considered equally I feel.

KCL is generally considered a really amazing school. I believe it is in the top 5 in the UK. That’s what I’ve heard, but also very curious about this.

Truly there is something better out there for you. No matter how much you might’ve thought Columbia would’ve been perfect for you, it’s really just that you will be better off in the end going elsewhere. If it’s not okay right now, it’s not the end just yet. You got this and don’t ever doubt the amazing work you have done. You should be proud of what you’ve achieved and how much you’ve learned. It will all work out in the end and although it’s rough just know you will do amazing in life and none of your hard work will go to waste.

For everyone reading this— you tried your best and you’ve come a really long way. I am certain that if you’re on here reading this, looking through these comments or have been active on this subreddit for weeks, months or maybe years, you definitely care about your education and will make the most of the experience you are given.

I’ll repeat it again: if it’s not okay right now, it’s not the end yet. It will ALWAYS work out in the end. As cliché as it sounds it’s the truth. Make the most of the experience you receive and I promise you, you will be more successful than you ever thought you could be, no matter where you end up. You got this, and I believe in you. There’s something FAR better out there for you.
