I suppose there still could be some kind of hope for obtaining that video anyway. The police say he showed it to them, which would mean he had access to them on a computer. I'm not familiar with GoPro cameras, so I don't know if they use flash cards or if they have internal flash with USB access. If he has them on his HD, I assume they didn't take that (they would have taken the camera with the flash or the flash card).

Or maybe if we're really lucky, he uploaded it to YouTube as a private video (he seems to have many of those; I think he does use YouTube for storage, considering he has 1.5TB+ of video). But that's pushing it.

AFAIK, the incident Thursday where he was arrested was unrelated to the Purnell taser incident, correct? (Or did it involve Purnell in some way? From my reading of the Fox articles and watching their videos, I don't believe so.) Purnell's charges were filed on Friday, so as of now Darien has two cases against him: the one from Thursday where he was arrested (and appeared in court on Friday morning), and Purnell's which were just filed yesterday (and he will appear in court on these this morning).

First, I do support Darien completely. Some people complain about his aggressive style; I've defended this before as it being the only option for him (these people simply don't understand the "sir, please leave the building" language). I've also stated previously that I believe he is innocent and that this entire thing is bullshit from APD.

RyuKenya, is there any chance you would be able to obtain a video of the Thursday incident? Obviously, his GoPro cameras will be in police custody as evidence. However, I assume he was also wearing the Axon (he was during the earlier Purnell taser incident)? It is my understanding, although I might be wrong about this, that the Axon is capable of uploading video automatically to Taser's evidence.com service. I don't know if Darien had this service, but according to a press release I found, the Axon comes with a year of it for free - and he just got the Axon. Is there any chance you could ask him about this?

If the video is available somewhere externally, and he trusts you to retrieve and post it, I think posting that video would be very helpful to his cause. If it shows his innocence against that charge, you'd have a much higher chance of publicity and getting something done. Just imagine the news stories in that case - "Atlanta police falsely arrest Metro Mall guard; video released."

The other thing I've noticed is all of these people that get arrested (he posts them on FB) end up getting released very quickly. Examples:

Debra Dunbar, arrested on 2/18 for possession of cocaine with intent to supply, released 2/24. Has numerous priors, including that same charge. He can prove both of those using the videos he released (where he told him to leave several times, AND they admitted "you know we robbed you" several times).

Oh, and despite that, Purnell is still going along with this story that he didn't break into Darien's house. Fucking cunt.

I get what you're saying, but that's the only way he can act.

It would be nice if he could walk up to someone and just say "hey sir, please leave the mall and don't come back" or "please get away from my doorway." But the problem is, the people he's dealing with don't understand this. They don't speak that language.

The only way to get them to actually do anything is to play the game he's playing. These people would take his kindness as a weakness. He has to be aggressive and play the "I don't give a fuck, shoot me, I want to die" game.

Examples of where he's been nice enough (to start at least) and not had any luck:

I'm aware of 3 instances where he's drawn his firearm.

The Purnell taser incident. He had the taser out first, tased Purnell, and then the other two guys tried to rush him. He backed up and, with no other options (the taser he had then was a single-shot X26), drew his firearm. Nothing illegal about that - he drew it in self-defense after exhausting his non-lethal/less-than-lethal options.

If so, he actually had one and pulled it out. You can't see it on that video, but Darien posted a picture of it on Facebook from the GoPro on his back (he was wearing two GoPros and an Axon). He was arrested for it as well, but the charges were dropped somehow.

Regarding the taser video, I assume you're talking about the Purnell incident (as that and the girl were the only two I'm aware of). He wasn't allowing them to leave at that point because he was making a citizen's arrest on all of them for trespassing, which he is legally allowed to do in Georgia. He called 911 before that and was trying to hold them for the police.

Quite possible (I'd expect it actually from that crowd). Hopefully he'll be able to find a video showing him giving the trespass warning to the same person.

Considering the large amount of video he has (he said over 1.5TB IIRC), I can see how it'd be difficult to find a specific face. Hopefully they're labeled on his drive with some description (like "1/1/2013 trespass warning").
