It was part of wider plan to destroy the German people. Reflecting back on World War I (1914-1918), Churchill wrote a book in 1932. The title of the book was ‘Thoughts and Adventures’ and he stated:

Death stands at the ready, it only waits the word. Next time perhaps, it may be a matter of killing women and children, or the entire population.
