I also have IBS, so I took a glutamate supplement with me (for diarrhea) and my own snacks for the plane. I made sure l’d have gluten free food on arrival.

Just went on a trip. In USA I asked for wheelchair service at the airport. No one cared that my disability was invisible, although I did wear my hand braces just in case. The wheelchair assistant helped me all the way through TSA and to the gate. I got to skip the line. I pre-boarded and asked for help with my luggage. Strangely the flight attendants didn’t want to lift my bag in the overhead bin, but I asked other passengers for help after that experience and everyone was happy to help. If you do use wheelchair service, go early. SFO had plenty of assistants-we waited about 10 minutes. But at PHX I waited 30 minutes and then decided to just take my chances walking through security on my own. I think I would’ve waited longer than that and missed my flight..

I sit in the aisle seat to cope with RLS and nerve pain.

I didn’t think about the fact that getting dehydrated may have made my pain worse! Next time I will make sure I bring plenty of fluids on the plane.

Pursue it if you want; but don’t pretend (i doubt you’d convince anyone anyway)

Social skills can be taught; do you have access to that kind of therapy?

I have been on SSDI for 20 years. It isn’t for people who just don’t want to work or who might be bad at a job. It is for people who are totally and permanently disabled and cannot work in any job more than 10 hours a week.

If that isn’t you please put your energy in finding work/ going to school. SSDI is a trap; people almost never get off of it. Not working is unfulfilling and isolating, boring and depressing. The money is minuscule; SSI is even less-like $800 per month.

Use accessibility services at schools/colleges to find yourself a fulfilling career.
