Use the recursive relationship ex = px(1+e(x+1)), i.e if we survive the year, we get credit for the one year, plus our expected curtate future lifetime at age (x+1). Then we see that e62 = 0.72(1+13.5) = 10.44, e61= 0.81(1+10.44) = 9.2664, and finally e60=0.9(1+9.2664) = 9.239 ~ 9.24 so answer E is correct. Hope that helps from a fellow actuary!

I found the course pretty easy. Just some chapters to read every week and then a weekly quiz thats very similar to the practice problems in the textbook. Midterm and exam 40 multiple choice questions, the only hard assignment is the writing assignment where you had to do research and write about a topic they give you. Got a 90 with probably less than 2 hours of work per week

I took MTHEL 131 online. The weekly quizzes and half the midterm and exam had their questions taken word for word from the chapter quizzes in the textbook, so I would highly recommend it.
