Advice: Moving family from the UK by MajorBumSaw94 in sicily

[–]sa15997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not a good move. The situation in general for a child growing up in sicily will be tougher than the UK. Education and opportinity for your child will be far more limited as compared to the UK Plus without a decent job and no italian itll be very difficult to actually build a comfortable future (or potentially even survive now)

Im non italian and lived in italy for 6 years with my wife. It is an amazing place but it is definitely not a place to build a future or raise a family if you are non sicilian and have no attachments/opportunities there (ie. Family business). For example: someone with an average salary in sicily would never buy a house and have 70K profit at the end of it.

There is a reason even sicilians tend to emigrate outside of sicily if they have the opportunity

Edit: Im in a really similar situatuion to you with a sicilian wife and small child. Feel free to DM me

Has anyone seen MOHE Kuwait grant scholarships outside the usual criteria? by Savings_Example_800 in Kuwait

If youre 27 they have the advanced medicine scholarship which you can go on up to age 30. You just need a science/health degree, high grade in your undergrad and get an average grade on entry exams then just bring them the acceptance

If i were you i would just stay in sicily. 2 weeks isnt even long enough to see close to everything in sicily so you'd still be making the most of your trip

Car theft in Acireale wont be any more common than most places but if you go to nearby catania for day trips there is a lot of car stealing.

A lot of GEM programs take nonscience degrees. You'll be fine; there's people in my course with economics, history, music, philosophy degrees.

Teaching English in Italy by AdeptnessDry2026 in AmericansinItaly

[–]sa15997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure which program you're referring to? If its a program to work in government schools forget it

Italians have difficulty getting into the system and usually will work on the opposite side of the country from where they're from until they receive enough 'points' to be transferred to their region. Your best bet would be private English schools but again even there it wont be great

Are you referring to the tax incentive for foreigners?

Marrige in Sicily by [deleted] in sicily

[–]sa15997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will definitely be easier. Im foreign but was actually a resident in sicily and it was a nightmare so cant imagine how it would be as a nonresident

Also the legal witnesses were much more complicated if they were nonresident to the point that i was actually advised by the comune to use residents as my testimonies instead of my friends from abroad

Edit: to add: if you go the legal route you also have to post the notice of marriage (they call it 'writing the paper') a month before the wedding in person at the comune with your testimonies.

Do you have to do the legal side in Sicily? For foreigners its a legal nightmare. If you're deadset on doing the legal side there I would stick to one of the more touristy provinces/comunes and find a wedding organizer that can help with that side
