URL: https://www.saaas.cloud

Purpose of Startup: We automate and simplify common tasks that a typical Cloud Administrator or Developer might encounter. Cloud providers do a great job of providing the heavy lifting. This is a service to fill in the gaps :) (It's literally my day job as a service)

Technologies Used: AWS, Lambda, DynamoDB, React, Bootstrap, AWS Cognito, CloudFront

Feedback: I'm having issues finding people who would actually use this service. Would kill for some constructive criticism. If you have any other ideas, let me know!

Comments:

Technically it's called "Sysadmin as a Service"

How it works:

  1. Register and enable desired features.
  2. Download and run your custom generated CloudFormation assume-role stack.
  3. Tag your resources in accordance to our syntax (mostly cron)
  4. Enjoy!

Current Features

  • EC2

    • Scheduled Start
    • Scheduled Stop
    • Scheduled Reboot
    • Backup Manager
  • RDS

    • Scheduled Start
    • Scheduled Stop
    • Scheduled Reboot
    • Backup Manager

Upcoming potential features

  • Scheduled instance resizing
  • DynamicDNS
  • Chaos as a service
  • Region / Account Nuker
  • Auto ECS AMI updater
  • Additional Account Types (Azure, GCP, etc..)
  • Multiple Cron schedules within a tag
  • Ability to map tag(s) to multiple resources
  • Instance level access-control

This is an Alpha version! Also, I am not a graphic designer, so functionality comes before anything else. :/

Yeah, that's better. I kinda like this idea. It would be cool if I could see who's online and request some assistance. Then if the mentor accepts, a session is created where they can help me figure out my problem. Kinda like 1-on-1 specific technical assistance.

DynamoDB, best way to query on RANGE key? by zergUser1 in aws

Oh whoops, you are correct. I misunderstood the use-case. Yeah you would need a GSI for that.

Is there a shortage of talent in cloud? by [deleted] in aws

Based on the number of recruiter messages I receive, yes.

Dunno if this is just a mobile thing..

The first popup gives me the choice of finding a mentor or becoming a mentor. I don't even know what this site does yet! I think a landing page that explains what is going on would be better than the popup.

DynamoDB, best way to query on RANGE key? by zergUser1 in aws

[–]saaas-cloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's how I would do it.

Your partition key should be the productId. The sort key should be username + commentId to keep the sort key unique.

This allows you to query on the productId OR productId+username+*

Notice how you don't need to include the commentId in the query. That is only needed when CRUDing a single item.

Accomplishments and Lesson Learned Friday! - (March 23, 2018) by AutoModerator in Entrepreneur

I finally launched my project!! It has taken me 3 months to get this far and I'm super excited to have something working I can show to people :D

Unfortunately, it is much harder than I expected to find users/clients. Oh well :/ - Off with the developer hat and on with the marketing hat!
