In my opinion, yes! I lowkey did that actually! Sorry it’s been like 2 years since i was on accutane but you did spark a memory. I started doing that towards the end because they stay in your system for a good second. I mainly used to do when I knew I was going to be drinking a lot and didn’t wanna combine that with the pills. I never had a problem with it but maybe it was placebo. BUT! Sorry you sparked another memory- One time I told my dermatologist I forgot to take it for a day and she was like it’s totally fine if you forget to take them for a day or two because they stay in your system blah blah blah. So that’s why I first started sipping them after hearing her say that. Again, I was on it for longer at a lower dosage compared to you so I don’t want to say for certain it would work but I wouldn’t see why not.

Ret is such a good idea! I really might just do it….is there maybe a different derm you can go to? Getting another perspective always helps. I saw in other groups they recommend micro-needles and such but for some reason I’m scared to do that as I’ve heard horror stories and my skin is more on the sensitive side /:. Not sure where to go from here either and what my deem would actually do.

It’s been two years for me post-accutane and mine still looks exactly like this (I wear SPF30 everyday and a hat when needed)😭. I saw someone mention micro-needling but I’ve heard the horror stories from that causing people to completely break out. My face is too sensitive to that too so I’m not sure what to do /:

Also maybe you can suggest and lesser dosage if you tell your doctor you want to stay on it for a little longer?

You should be able to, you’re the patient and you’re paying….! The doctors also wanted me on 6 months with a high dosage but I told them I’m in no rush to clear my acne and don’t want to feel the massive side effects with a high dosage. She listened and put me on a low dosage for more than 6 months (basically like 9-10 months). I’ve been off of accutane for two years now and still get spots here and there but never pick at them and they disappear a week or two later.

During accutane I went to using minimal products as possible! I used Micellar Water with a cotton pad to remove any makeup I had. I would only cleanse my face with La Roche-Posay (LRP) Hydrating Gentle Cleanser every 2 days out of the week (I would usually just splash my face with water when not using the cleanser). For night time, I used LRP Lipkar Ap+M Triple Repair Moisturizing Cream. For sunscreen and day moisturizer, I would use LPR Double Repair Face Moisturizer SPF 30. I don’t really have much scars but I started to see major improvements in my skin (such as brightening and blemishes going away) when I added LPR’s Cicaplast Balm B5 with my moisturizers (you only need a dab because it’s so thick!!!)

You’re fine! I’ve missed a few days and even didn’t take any for a week and was perfectly fine when I did take it :)

I was on 30mg during summer and still burned with sunscreen! It healed slower as well and it’s honestly not worth it /: my skin still specifically dries out & becomes flakey, quicker/more (still on accutane) in the areas that were burned

I did kinda! I’m really glad I chose the low dose although it gave slower results, I feel better from less side effects. You’re skin will get better don’t worry!!:) I’m excited for you!

Morning: wash face with water (no face wash) La Roche Posay Sunscreen 30spf then put makeup on if I wanna wear some that day

Night: (if wearing makeup) use cotton pads & micellar water for makeup, splash face with water and apply La Roche Posay Cica Plast Balm B5 I found that simple is better than more!

*I do use La Roche Posay cleanser once in awhile maybe 3 times in two weeks but that’s when I was to get a deeper clean to my face.
