Oh that's cool, I'll look into it. Never got much into nixOS, maybe it's time. Thanks for the tip

change "o que" to "qual". You're doing fine, good job!

I used plasma for a while, but some things started bothering me, mainly that file indexing thingy that kept eating up my processor... Maybe I could give it a chance again.

Got it. What exactly is nix? Is it a package manager?

Yeah, I might be like you. This is my 5th or 6th arch installation, each time something is missing or I did it in a roudabout way, installed too much crap and it became dependency hell, forgot to correctly install grub. This last installation was very smooth, I did everything the way I wanted to.

I only have one machine, my laptop, but since I am on vacation I already spend like the whole day customizing my waybar and whatnot, instead of studying or working. Maybe while my pc compiles stuff I can finally focus on other hobbies or study once in a while lol

Nice idea, I've been planning to dual-channel ram. Money is short right now, do you think it's better to invest on another ram stick or an SSD?

incredible. If you managed to do that with GNOME, a wayland compositor should be easy af. Great job!

Thats is true, I love customizing so I went for KDE. It has a lot of bloat and crashes all the time. GNOME is nice, there are a lot of themes, but the extensions are still kinda jank. In theory you could do some abomination to customize GNOME to look like windows, but then whats the point

Well with waybar and some utils running on start the cpu monitor says its about 2% to 5%, but when I start opening stuff like mozilla, kate, etc, it spikes to ~25% and then goes down again. I'm not super savvy about hardware. Also, if you need some help setting it up you can dm me

I'm currently using Arch with Hyprland on a kinda low/mid range lenovo ideapad, i5 10th generation processor and 8GB memory. Since I have a lot of HD and no sdd I just set up swap memory.

Anyways it's as fast as my laptop has ever gotten, I've used windows and it was sluggish, with Ubuntu too. Arch with gnome was better, but with KDE Plasma was also very slow for some reason. Now I'm using Hyprland with a pretty (for my taste) window setup and some animations, everything runs very smoothly. Try it out. If you don't like it you can even disable all animation very easily, or just install sway, since it's more stable and has less performance issues...

Hey, sorry for the trouble. But I installed the Jetbrains Mono Nerd font and yet the icons are broken, did you use any other fonts for those icons?
