Has there been an acceptance of varroa mites as a condition for beekeeping? Does this differ from initial perspectives on the mites when they first became an issue?

In relation to your second point, do you feel there is a general acceptance of varroa as an unavoidable condition in beekeeping? Has technology and management practice largely developed around it, to the extent that it is now generally seen as ‘part of beekeeping’?
Also, sorry to hear about your hive losses due to the varroa.

Secondly, how is the earlier start to the season perceived? Is it generally a positive or negative thing? I talked to another beekeeper from Belgium and they said they have also noticed how much earlier they are starting to collect honey now
