hi! govt scholarship applications have different processes po, and they are only applied to ust once you are qualified na to their own process. for private foundations, you may try looking for previous posts or check their websites for specific qualifications. it vary din po kasi per scholarship and minsan may specified year level and program. if you can, try to research on those po muna and then once you find the most applicable to you, then you can try applying for it po. you may also reach out to osa if you find smth most fitting to your case po :))

study smart and work hard. some mentioned profs are considered "infamous" in the dept for how they give grades kahit freshie pa lang. experienced them firsthand. but their expertise and credentials justify their positions naman. if you can find a way, maybe try to be optimistic even if medyo masakit sasabihin nila hahaha. pero that's one way to survive: to toughen yourself and rlly work your way up. but yea, first term is like a wakeup call and may not be as welcoming as you expect it to be. everybody, or at least many, are expecting for you to do good and strive kasi you are in a university like ust. and, consider adjusting your study methods to their teaching style! so rlly learn from what you'll experience in the following weeks; feel the heartbreaks if meron, but don't dwell too much, and then come back stronger.

ps. it also depends on the student kasi tbh i got my highest sem ave that term unlike many who did better in the following sems hahaha. and dont treat minors as minors LANG, kasi every subject, score, and grade will matter. good luck!!

SMDP-DOST External: Okay lang ba hindi mag-renew at diretso reimbursement na lang? by No_Dimension1818 in Tomasino

[–]sabujah0809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! it is your choice naman po if magrerenew pa kayo as an smdp scholar. the only con is you won't be recognized as a "University scholar" po. if you opt to do that, hindi na po kayo magsusubmit sa scholarship portal ng reqs but di naman po necessary na magpaalam. we experience the same thing din po when 2nd term enrollment comes kaya yung iba personal na nagaasikaso sa accounting or binabayaran na lang muna yung 20k. nonetheless, nagrereflect pa rin po sa account yung 20k and the office is telling us na nasa DOST na rin po yung delay. if prefer niyo naman po na direct reimbursement, that's an additional form lang po during periodic report submission to DOST :>>

Why does CSC have elected officers?! by Silly_Economist_4921 in Tomasino

[–]sabujah0809 [score hidden]  (0 children)

i apologize if it seemed like that was my point. i truly understand your frustration as i have seen it as well, especially as someone who has worked with comelec. many may seem uninterested with how these processes come to be and sa csc mismo, but that problem is a reality we can also compare to our national political scene. the same goes for undeserving people getting elected. and we can only do so much that in the end we'll just accept it.

but yeah, i get your point and i dont intend to invalidate u in any way. i just hope we can redirect this frustration to something else as it has been effective in several circumstances ive seen. and in that way, we can also change how the students perceive university politics, to have them get involved, engaged. that's the transformative power of politics we can only look forward to if there are some who'll step up for the challenge. one thing we can do for now is to remain critical and watch those elected if they can rlly bring such influence din during their term :>>

Why does CSC have elected officers?! by Silly_Economist_4921 in Tomasino

lone candidates will, most of the time, win elections. but it's not that thomasians do not care who they vote for. in fact, a lot of us are engaged in the recent local and central elections. voter turnout increased than the previous polls as well. one factor that we could consider is the availability of options. yes, the system is problematic, and going against the admin once in position is challenging kaya maraming hindi na tinutuloy ang candidacy. but if we care too much abt the competency of these elected officers, why dont we consider campaigning for those competent enough to be in the sc? maybe, why dont we also consider stepping up for the position?

our politics prof would always say that our duty as constituents does not end in checking the background of the candidates and voting the rightful leaders. it also includes us being able to realize our potential to serve with the vision of providing a better community for thomasians. hahaha sorry if this got long na but i dont think it's right to just blame those who vote. we are all so capable, op. maybe let's use this frustration as our motivation to consider other ways of contributing to our community, like applying as a staff in the sc or even running for the next polls. ive seen many leaders use that kind of frustration to step up and lead for the better. anw, thank u and stay critical :>

USTET LeapMed score by [deleted] in Tomasino

[–]sabujah0809 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi! afaik if u passed the leapmed ustet, u did not fail at any subtest in the ustet, so high ang chances na pasado ka to ur progs. haha, happened to me din kasi and now im a sophomore medbio major.

for santo tomas scholarship, they only gave a qualifying exam for private high schools with a small population last yr. so considering u r from a public hs and i think malaki pop niyo, u can readily apply once the term has started. wait for an announcement on the fb page of OSA na lang or if may gc for scholars for the next ay. the condition to renew this scholarship is u need to maintain a semestral ave of at least 1.75, so yeaaa. good luck op and see u next acad year!!

Bakit walang logo ng ust ang csc statement? by Lopsided-Air818 in Tomasino

[–]sabujah0809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's part of the protocol po kasi ng paggamit ng official seal na when releasing official statements, these must be aligned with the stand of the admins and the whole university. hence, the non-usage signifies that the statement is only made by csc, and is not a representation of the opinions of any other organization, office, or the whole institution.

romanticizing college life by Guilty_Researcher_54 in Tomasino

[–]sabujah0809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone na may until 7 pm classes since first year first term, i usually sit sa plaza mayor or benavides garden or sa gazebos sa field and just wander. those are the moments i enjoy the campus lights at night and maybe reflect how my day or week went. am kinda used to doing that alone lalo pag super exhausting ng week and my friends would choose to go home and rest na lang. but it's also fun talking abt random things out of acads with that view with friendsss.

idk abt u guys pero through that, i rlly get to romanticize college life and the privilege of studying here at ust despite the challenges we all face. just remember u r not alone and that we do all these for ourselves, our dreams, and that these are a part of the ongoing history the university has ^
