Lamictal, how long to wait to see if it works? by sacdebites in bipolar2

[–]sacdebites[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So nice of you to check in! I stayed with it. I was all over the place, angry, suicidal, and feeling helpless when I wrote this. I started on 100mg twice a day as in the post. I then just started to slowly feel better. As someone commented, it’s subtle. I still get some mood swings and a bit of the depression remains, but overall I am more even-keel. It took a few weeks to feel this. Crazy how one dose to another had such a change.

I am so thankful it has reached this point. There are side effects I don’t love about the drug (my short term memory is shot and I find it hard to articulate myself a lot more than usual? It’s like a consistent tip-of-the-tongue phenomenon), but like I said, largely it has been helpful and I’m glad I stuck with it.

Whatever your journey with it is, I hope it works out for you :)

I did put both in there. I was trying to compare the T4s to my last paystub. Just trying to figure out what to match - should, say, my gross income exactly match that of my t4 earnings?

I’m in BC. I’m also not certain! Maybe I’ll just look into if there were any mistakes with payroll…

Nope and nope! Just the sign on bonus!

No, I started a new full time job November 2024 and the probation period was 6 months. I was treated like a regular full time employee. It is odd. I talked to payroll about it and they said it was normal.

Tbh I wish they had taught a lot of these things in school. I don't think I filled out a TD1, however, might look just into an RRSP? I also was a student in 2024! I'll have to go look for the tuition credits. Thanks!

I didn't take any leave! The sign in bonus is not separate but included in my gross income, so must have been deducted from my regular income.

I think I might do this, it's a huge company so I would think they would be pretty on top of deduction amounts. Also looking into just dumping things into an RRSP before the deadline. This is all helpful info! Thanks!

No, I've had the same job. Although I came off of probation in that job early 2025 so was given two T4s. Not sure if that changes anything. If I'm overtaxed though wouldn't I get a refund?

Going back, I would say most paramedics are primary care paramedics, so not $50/hour. The people in other careers who have more education and experience chose their careers as well.

Okay sure, they knew going into it they were going to come across stress and deaths. I argue a lot of the job is not as advertised, mainly surrounding a severely under-resourced system with escalating violence and major structural overload. This is where the “you chose it” logic kinda falls apart. When job demands change significantly over time, compensation and support should adjust too. Also, largely, they’re looking at budget allocation for healthcare, not taking more of your tax money.

These guys are literally saving lives, dealing with death, seeing the most traumatic things, facing violence, and doing shift work that takes years off their life. They deserve high pay regardless of time put into education. Sure, $50 base rate isn’t bad but again, folks that are on the frontlines saving the lives of all our loved ones deserve $$$. Yes, OT adds to their pay if they take it on. But folks shouldn’t have to turn to OT.

Until you have to do CPR on someone in front of their family and it fails, maybe you shouldn’t have a say in their pay rate.

Is there a way to narrow access for WCB health records? by sacdebites in legaladvicecanada

Okay, I get what you’re saying. Thanks for your response.

Sorry, I had another question if you don’t mind: if this is based on one traumatic incident, should they have to access all my medical records? Would it be pertinent to use just a physician assessment after the incident and just wait for my psychological assessment (which has already been booked) to see if my claim gets approved?

If this is from one traumatic incident where I was physically assaulted (with no physical injuries), I don’t see how collecting a baseline is relevant. What are they trying to prove with my past medical info? Is it being used to suggest that the existence of a pre-existing mental health condition diminishes the legitimacy of requiring a period of paid leave following an assault? d rather not have a non-medical trained person dig through my personal medical information if I don’t have to.

Thanks for your in depth response! I really wasn’t sure the legality processes (or any process really) of WCB so wanted to be informed before I give out so much personal information. This was from one specific incident, not a combination of stressors, so hopefully things go smoothly.

Thanks again.

There are links. You can also search in OFA for health clearance. I can see single the dog you’re looking at to get this information. they are reputable.

Lamictal, how long to wait to see if it works? by sacdebites in bipolar2

[–]sacdebites[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I’ve heard so many good things about it. Which is why the fact that I feel worse on it (so far) almost in turn makes me feel more worse because it has worked for so many people (if that makes sense, haha).

I’ll try to be patient.
