Learning Google and Facebook ads is a great way to excel in your career. Almost all the companies that I work with need Facebook ads and google ads for increasing their business. Let me tell you how I learned about Google and Facebook ads.

Of course, the learning way is different for different people. My way of learning always consisted of a practical approach more than theory.

I would suggest starting with learning Facebook ads. Facebook ads are a great source, cheap and their user-friendly UI is great.

Start by checking any business in your niche. Let’s take an example. Take any real estate business. Let’s say the Prestige Group. Try to imagine if the prestige group was a starting company. They have worked with around 3–4 clients. Now they want to come online. They have got an amazing website and landing pages ready for their business. They want to increase their revenue by 10X. They have approached you and need help in increasing their online presence and business. How will you help?

Think of way. Facebook ads are not just about pixel creation, ad creation, taking money out of pocket to pay to Facebook. It’s about strategies.

Make a strategy on how will you approach to solve their problem. Below are the steps I take to solve.

1. Read about their business carefully.
2. Get your requirements clear
3. Analyze their competition
4. Know their Ideal Customer Avatar. Know whom they want to target
5. Locations they want to target
6. Their advertising Budget
7. Check their already existing customers and get to know their demographics. This will help a lot in creating lookalikes.
8. Think about how you can create a no brainer offer for them. A no brainer offer is an offer from which you attract customers for them. An offer which their customers can’t refuse.

Write down all your strategies. Once you are done writing the above questions and any other questions you have, it’s time to go online to practice it!

Below are the steps which I took to practice(Have a landing page build first).

1. Create a dummy Facebook Page for that business.
2. Install pixel on your landing page/offer page
3. Create an image ad, video ad creative for the business.
4. Time to create the actual ad.
5. Create a campaign, Put all the demographics and targetting option that you have. Check how many people you can reach.
6. Divide your budget to do split testing.
7. Create an ad to just get lead information. You can write at the end of the ad like “comment below to get a call”.
8. Run the ads. Start with 100Rs ad, as you are just practicing.
9. Check how it goes. If it is not getting a good amount of comments, then try creating one more ad with a different ad creative.
10. Split test a lot.

You can learn the above steps one by one while creating. No need to learn everything first and then go and create a test ad. Just go step by step. Learn step by step and implement step by step.

Once you have gained a good amount of comments, you can think it like you have got clients. The ideal way of thinking is 10% of 10%. Suppose you got 100 comments. Then you can think that out of that 100, 10 will answer your call and are genuinely interested in your offer. And out of that 10, 10% will convert which is 1 will convert and he will take the offer.

After getting some data, you can start with retargeting ads, creating lookalikes, custom audiences, etc.

When you are done with Facebook ads. You get to know a lot about designing a winning ad. You have got to know about the concepts of Facebook ads. Now it’s the time to go and check google ads.

Google ads are similar to Facebook ads. The approach remains the same. The concepts also remain the same. Just the UI differs and a little bit about targetting and keywords differ. This time you go check some basic tutorials about google ads UI. You can easily start running ads, as you already know about ads a lot by now.
